Dave Hooten, thanks. As explained in my previous comment, I can't return my main computer, and the new one may be past the time limit. Plus I purchased a number of add-ons for it, so...I'm going to have to pray for a solution. Appreciate your time.

Mark Smith, there is no local church I can go to here that teaches Scripture with any depth, especially not with COVID. I appreciate your comments, and will simply have to re-install Windows 10 every 35 days, according to your post. I go to a Best Buy, here, and will ask them if they can work magic. I kind of doubt it, as they only have 20 year olds
-
Thanks Sine Nome. I guess I was hoping I would be starting such an avalanche of posts. But, as you point out, not so. Which means that a very high percentage of users have more modern computers. Thanks.

Dave Hooten: I believe it was Windows 10, version 19 something. Thanks. I realize your "not support" comment was the standard policy, but I was wondering if they would consider changing it until the Windows 10 update situation clears up.

Thanks Disciple II for reminding me about the online version. Salute!

Howdy from Texas... I'm using a refurbished computer for Windows 10, and one of the latest updates makes it unusuable. I tried installing the OS on my data drive, and the same thing happened. Windows 10 worked for a while, and an update caused it to simply reboot the machine over and over again. So it wasn't my hard drive. Until I can install one more

For years and years, yay decades, I've had this habit of searching Logos and Vyrso for free books. I used to do it daily, as there was always a new resource available...usually Christian novels (not so anymore). The paradigm used to be to type "price: [0 TO 0]" into the search bar...but that stopped working, so now I choose "Browse all books," then

I want to thank you, "Keep Smiling 4 Jesus :-)," for correcting me. Truly, a scholar thou art! :-) Paul

Hmmm... No response from the company yet. Hmmm... Thank y'all for responding. A lot of good humor here. Beginning to believe we better be ready for some investment before too long. It used to happen during November (that they would upgrade the software). Last time it was in late October. (sigh) Time will tell. Again, thanks. Paul

Howdy from Texas! I check the Logos Wiki page every so often, and notice that on the Beta release page ( https://wiki.logos.com/Logos_8_Beta_Release_Notes ) there are no entries for a version 8.16. This tells me that either 1) the Carona virus has stopped construction of software updates, or 2) Logos version 9.0 is on the horizon. Some of us need to

Mr. Hooton: I don't do automatic downloads either. So, to answer your first question, I withhold downloading the data (which comes *after* the new version is installed) until the indexing is complete the first time. What the indexer did was start a *second* time, *before* I downloaded the data. It had already indexed once at that point. *That*'s what
-
Okay, after the third indexing, the process seems to have stopped. Forgot to mention that, when I restarted the software, there didn't appear to be any added resources in the drop-down list. I checked the Library tab, and the answer might be that there were two versions of the LXX that were updated, and maybe only one was in the drop down list. Salute
-
I'm sorry, but I'm having trouble with Logos trying to index over and over again. First there was the update to the software itself. And I let it index then. Second, there was a data download waiting after the first download. I waited until indexing #1 stopped, and it started to index *again*. So I deleted the indexer from memory, downloaded the new

Okay, Gentlemen, here's what I've done so far: Removed WinThruster. Tried Logos from the .exe file. No change. *Rebooted the computer!* Tried Logos from the exe file with "Ctrl" pressed, and it gave me my sign in screen. Could not unpin Logos from the start menu. So left it be. Deleted the desktop icon, sent a new one directly from the .exe file. Started

Thank you so much, David. In the past I've found CCleaner to be a bit aggressive, and delete things like my license to Real Player (which I haven't re-installled yet). But if you swear by it, I appreciate your vote of confidence. Things change over the years. Really like y our hairline, by the way (patting top of pate).
-
Randy, what I need from WinThruster is to be able to clean my Registry. I used to have a program called "Registry Clean Expert," and still do on my laptop, but I can't get it to install on Windows 10. It appears to be out of business, or something. But I like to keep the registry neat and tidy, and when I first opened Windows 10, this is the software

Howdy all of you. Thank you Lynden and Randy. Attached are the log files, one from the PC, which has the problem, and one from the Laptop, which is working, but slowly, and with having to use the Ctrl key on startup. 3223.LogosPC.zip 6038.LogosLaptop.zip The PC installation of Logos is not seeing DNS, and the Laptop can't synchronize the Prayer list
-
Thank you all so very much. Yes, indeed, it is Ctrl that we press. It is not 5:25am here in Texas, and on my larger PC with a new Windows 10 install, the software just won't "ignite," and pressing Ctrl when starting does no good. On the laptop, with Windows 7, it still takes a while, but I was able to get the sign in menu up, and open to a blank desktop
-
Howdy from Texas, In the evening hours, my Internet speeds slow down quite a bit. Instead of 100mbps, it goes down to 45 or 57. If I start Logos, it just hangs there. I tried using shift when hitting the icon on my desktop, but that doesn't get me the offline usage of the software. Task Manager shows 0% or 0.1% CPU usage. I am using Windows 10 in this

Uh oh. Do I need to re-run the scan, Dave, but done the way you just suggested...from the *backup*?? And thanks, Linden, for the encouragement! Paul
