  • Re: NET Bible notes, 2nd ed

First, if the 2nd edition is worth $8, then its worth $15, so the extra $7 should not be a deal breaker. However, although I thought I paid $15 for it, I checked again and this is what is shows: You pre-ordered on 2/25/2020 Your current dynamic price is $7.99 So perhaps the dynamic price is there for those of us who have the 1st edition.

For $15, this is an easy purchase. I have two copies of the 2nd edition, one hard back and the other leather. But the print is small for my eyes. With Logos on my iPad, I can read it well. And it sounds like the changes in the 2nd edition are an improvement worth paying for again.

  • Re: Systematic Theology recommendations?

I study under both Gordon Lewis and Bruce Demerest. I agree that this is a great way to experience and think about theological questions.

I have an iPad with the latest iOS update and Logos App. The View Settings tab is the same with the ability to change the font. I don't see anything new in this regard either.

  • Re: Anchor Bible Dictionary

A great resource. But it has an extended article on the History of the Rechabites while missing an article on Reconciliation. Still, it’s great.

  • Re: Please stop pushing NT Wright

I happen to like much of what NT Wright has written, although I am still exploring certain nuances of his theology. However, I think the original post is simply pointing out that Wright gets a lot of publicity on Logos. And I think it is unnecessary to pummel him as a rule breaker and report him to the authorities. Let the post live or die on its own

  • Re: Has Letter to Romans been studied at secular law schools?

Absolutely not. I too am an attorney and graduate of a secular law school and 30 years in practice. But my point is that there is a lot of "knowledge" and "quotes" that are attributed to the distant past which have no basis in fact. Then they show up as quotes in preaching commentaries and sermons. As my favorite lawyer, Abraham Lincoln, once said,

In light of the fact that I paid a lot of money for a set that was scheduled to be substantially completed now, but that is delayed 10-15 more years, this is some consolation.

  • N.T. Wright - "The Kingdom New Testament: A Contemporary Translation"

I would think that N.T. Wright's "The Kingdom New Testament: A Contemporary Translation" would be a good fit for Logos, but I don't see it either in development or discussed here. This would be an interesting translation to run parallel to other translations. Of course, the translation consistently reflect Wright's understanding and emphasis on key

  • Re: Horton vs Bird

Dr. Culver‘s Systematic Theology is wonderful. It should have been published in three volumes. The print edition has very small font. But at $24 on Logos now, it is an extraordinary value. The 1200 pages is more like 2000 pages in most published books.

It is actually a crime in the state of Washington to commit the offense of “bait and switch.” Perhaps we should be slow to make such unfounded accusations. See RCW 19.230.340

The assigned author, R Glenn Wooden, was 18 years old when the first volumes of NICOT were being published. I sometimes wonder why many volumes in this series were so slow coming.

Kevin, do you work on the site for BestCommentaries? BestCommentaries is great. It's very useful to see a list of what is out there, and what is coming. I am amazed at how many commentaries are in the works. Even Stanley Porter, who thinks there are too many commentaries, is working on one for Romans. But you have a near impossible task of ranking them

  • Re: Logos Is Too Expensive

In addition to being a pastor, I am also an attorney. I often pay $100-$300 for books because of the value they bring to my profession. Logos is somewhat like that. It is for those who are professionals. Unfortunately, it is not for all.

  • Why does Mobile App not work unless connected?

I love the mobile app and the recent updates. But when I go to the mountains where I have no wifi/data connection, the app is useless. Even downloaded books are not usable. Why is this? Can the app work offline, like one would expect?
