  • Re: Is it really the Encyclopedia Britannica as we might of thought?

The Noet-Britannica article on Zwingli is 242 words, but Wikipedia is 10,172. The Noet-Britannica article on Mark Zuckerberg is 375 with Wiki at 8,500. Someone criticized Wiki, but the reason kids can't quote it is because they want kids to use the library. So the question is value, not really reliability. For most of what we do, wiki is very good.

I just wanted to hear for sure that this is not the 1827 edition with outdated articles. I already bought this with the promise that we would get more information before publication. Why is the real content such a secret?

This book is typically more expensive than it should be, but that is what you get with Oxford Press. Otherwise, it is gold. The authors are from Calvin College, so that may tell you something.

  • Re: Closing Friday 3 dollars.

When you look at the font and spelling style of the original, I can't wait to see how many errors are in the Logos version.

  • Re: Not finding - Report Typo

I have reported hundreds of typos, but have not reported hundreds more because I find them on my iPad and there is no way to report them. And I generally don't get back to them on my computer. Reporting typos on the iPad would be a great feature.

  • Re: Greek Paste

Select the words you want to copy and right click on them. A menu opens up. On the right side, you will see the English word at the top, but Greek below. Click on the English word on the right side, then on "copy" on the left. We can also use the English text to copy the underlying Greek word. That is what you are doing.

I am an attorney and use Dragon NaturallySpeaking every day. Unfortunately, Dragon does not work at all in controlling the menu bar in Logos. You can use dictation software to replace your keyboard, but not to replace your mouse. You can use Dragon to dictate notes. (I am doing that here.) But the interface between the two programs does not allow you

  • Re: Is the Goodwin Greek Grammar Collection Useful for Non-Specialists?

You can view the content of these volumes many places on line in PDF. Look at them closely and ask yourself, "What purpose will these serve for ME." I have been reading Greek for 35 years, and probably have all of the Greek resources available in Logos. But I really don't see a day that I will get $20 of value out of this. You might. But how many reference

  • Re: Kinda Disgusted by This

I have had issues about Faithlife/Logos in the past, but DAL is exactly right. David Paul's remarks are ugly and unfounded. If you don't want Bird's book without Bart's, then don't buy it. (I am sure that Logos would offer Bart's books if possible, anyway.)

Gabriel, thanks for your post. Full disclosure: I was the original poster on this thread and am a graduate of TMS. I agree that, even in its unedited form, it is worth it to me to keep the archive. I am glad I collected all of the commentaries as they became available, and wish others who want them now could get access to them. But that is a Logos-Moody

I am an attorney, and in the legal system, exact transcripts are required. Even the verbal pauses, and ums. But I think any sermon transcript should be edited to make it clean, even removing sentence fragments that are false starts. Removing misstatements or overstatements are also fine. Even the White House alters published transcripts when they want

Thanks for your reply, Phil. I now have an opportunity to put to use my textual criticism skills and I can tell you that the mistakes came from the files provided by GTY. This resource will be so valuable to so many that it must be done well. Perhaps GTY didn't want to invest the resources to clean it up better, although some modestly trained volunteers

  • Re: MacArthur Sermon Archive - Thousands of Typos - Who is Responsible?

A user in a separate thread had noted the spelling of the church father "Chrissistum" at GTY. This alternate spelling is now in Logos. The Logos edition is an exact replica of the GTY archive without any additional clean up work. When it is a free transcript on the GTY website, I understand typos and misspellings. And I don't even care about goofs on

  • MacArthur Sermon Archive - Thousands of Typos - Who is Responsible?

With 3-5 typos in each sermon, based on my initial survey, there may be 10-20,000 typos in the archive. I am not talking about bad spoken English, etc. These are typos likewordsnotspacedproperly. Still, it is a very useful resource. I know the MacArthur sermons at GTY we're not closely reviewed or edited, but I expected that this resource would be cleaned

  • Re: MacArthur Sermon Archive

I have all of the MacArthur commentaries that were made available before Moody pulled them. But this sermon archive has a lot of material that was not included in the commentaries, including all of his topical sermons (which are a relatively small portion of his total). So I think it is a great resource, even at this price of $200, about 6 cents a sermon
