• Re: First Time Indexing, Twice Now

Thanks to all for looking at this with me. The complete wiping of logos 5 from my PC, reinstall, and re-download did the trick. I did this Saturday afternoon and it just finished indexing.

2475.Logos Log Files 6 percent.zip Thanks for jumping in on this, Dave. I'm hoping this snapshot with Logos 5 grinding along at 6% for the last several hours will be sufficient for you to point me in a the right direction to resolve it. One thing I am contemplating is totally wiping Logos 5 off my PC, to include all the resources. Then I could reinstall

Thanks, Lynden. Running Win 8.1 Pro on a Core I5 PC with SSD and 4 GB RAM. I had 8 GB but one of the memory sticks failed and crashed the PC right after my first load of Logos 5. Pulled out the bad memory stick and reverted back to previous date, before Logos 5 was installed. Reinstalled Logos 5 and it recognized resources already downloaded and on

Good morning, Alabama24. I would not have made a distinction between 1st time and 2nd time either until recently. Logos 5 used to indicate it was indexing with a little icon down on the Windows Task Bar. Then for a few weeks, it indicated it was indexing with a banner below the menu bar on Logos 5. Within the last couple of weeks, I installed L5 on

I wonder if Logos 5 has increased functionality in this regard. I am reading "Protestant Doctrine of Scripture" by Van Til and there is a quote from "The Works of BB Warfield, Vol 1" that is also in my library. But Logos has not linked the the footnote. How can criticism disprove their claim? Warfield answers this by saying, “in order, therefore, to

Thanks for the praise, DMB. That means a lot. To God be the glory and to us be the giggles. If I had any clue of how my comment might have stacked up, I would have probably replaced "whining" with an expression I learned from my Ranger Instructor, "sniveling like a rat eating onions". SDG, Jeff

You make a good counterpoint, Jeffrey. Two passages come to mind as I was formulating a similar point: "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God." (Col 3:16 ESV) Please read 1 Thess 5:14 and compare root words

Another great post, Naveen. And very fitting Bible references. Another passage that spoke to my sinful heart in this matter is James 4. Our feedback is important to Logos or they would not host this blog and monitor and respond, all the way to the top brass of Logos. On the other side of the coin, it seems that Logos is similarly doing soul-searching

David Thomas: Imagine 70,000 people all leaving a stadium at once... I hope you do not bend your hermenuetics around your own worldly ideas the way you analogized this one. What Logos did was more like making 70,000 people think they had to buy season tickets to be able to leave the stadium then back off to saying they would let those who bought season

Not being a Windows user, it is my understanding that L5 is based on .net 4.5 which is incompatible with XP.
Yep, my point exactly. Here is a case in point about the mixed signals: From Andy Evans: Additionally, Logos have announced that they will be releasing a minimal upgrade which will enable you to access much of the new functionality within L5, but at a lower cost. Now from David Thomas:

So yes, Jeff, you CAN "buy the bare bones

Thank you, David. That was never clearly presented to me. Until now, I have only seen that it is an either-or. For future reference, putting that message out front instead of making it seem like the full upgrade to another package was necessary would have made all the difference for me. Thanks again!

Thanks, Emile. It is defeating our intent to encourage charity with others when we do not convey this admonition with charity. I hope you and Logos will forgive my failures in this regard. And I appreciate your intent in this. Now let me try to make it brief. The crux of the issue is that for full functionality (all features) of Logos 5, the basic engine

Emile, You are right, I have not spent time reading all the forums and participating in the process. I have only used Logos for 15 - 20 years and still have my tie that came with one of my early packages. I own and operate a business and have a full load plus with this and regular study of God's Word. I do not have time to make my study tool into an

fgh "I don't know how much more they could prioritize it." I purchased PBB before it was offered as part of the basic package, back in Libronix days. The Logos 4 platform has been in place for 3 years and notes have been able to be synchronized for a couple of years at least (if memory serves me correctly). Maybe it could have a priority somewhere close

You lost me on that one, Lynden. Was that sarcasm? If not, could you clue me in about the "PBB store"? Maybe it will be next to the Lessonbuilder (my other Edsel) store in never-never land.

Thanks, hopefully it is in the works. It is just a matter of priorities and it seems PBB has never been much of a priority after rolling it out. I found this, below. in some searching. I guess this type fix is already being applied to other parts of Logos 4. http://wiki.logos.com/Logos_4.3_Beta_11 Logos 4.3 Beta 11 (Mac v4.30.0.1146 and Windows v4.30
