I'm not a seasoned Android user, but I seem to remember reading in one of those tech help sites that Android apps simply aren't designed to be shut down, since memory management works different than on the desktop. The author was clear that separate apps that kill the processes do more harm than good. So maybe it's best just to switch to another app
