Phillips

Love the highlighting feature, love that you can key it to a keystroke. I wish I could select words by double-clicking and dragging, as in other apps, but I understand that that would overlap a more important function (instant search).

Here, however, are two things I think the code-writers should change:

Highlighting should be subject to the universal Ctrl+Z function. More than once, due to the program's occasional twitchiness, I think I select the text I want and do the keystroke, only to find I've selected much more. For instance, some minor twitch today selected paragraphs and paragraphs and paragraphs. I had no option but to select them again and erase, thus losing all the individual highlighting I'd previously done. This isn't as should be, and it should be changed.

Allow highlighting in footnotes. It isn't allowed, and it should be.

There y'go. If you know any better way to get this to Their attention. please let me know.

Suggestion: Add autofill to Library personal tags

Please add autofill to Library personal tags.

I'd love to get one and have my beloved Logos software out for people to see, and to ask "what's that"? and I can tell them. (Then Logos can pay us a sales commission... LOL)

BUT that charcoal gray is not something I am going to buy.

Then Navy for those of us more conservative, or for a more "formal" occasion :)

Hey, girls! (and guys that care)
Let's put in our two bits, kind of like an informal prepub, but without the pricing - although I'd like that!

Logos, pretty please...give me a way to do this in bulk; I've got tons of highlights, and even on a very beefy i7 machine, this one-by-one process is way too slow to accomplish manually.

Passage List: Want to import Cross References

I have a list of cross references that I want to import to a Passage List...but there doesn't seem to be any way for me to do that (other than to manually retype them).

This is frustrating, and I think it would be a great feature to add to Passage List--which already can import from some other sources...just not this one [or at least let me "select" text in the Cross Reference Tool].

[:)]

When I posted my original query, I also emailed an acquaintence (Mo) who has some expertise and I was fortunate [:D] to receive a timely response captured below:

Hi Mo,

I have a visual filter question for you.

Is it possible to use a visual filter to highlight all biblical references (citations) in an open resource?

How would this be done?

Thanks in advance for your consideration.

Mo's reply:

Hi Dennis,
Good question.
Yes it can be done. (,,, deleted text ...)
The picture below shows the syntax for just the NT and one book, Concise Theology.
<Bible ~ gen-rev>
In the Visual Filter range list there is no option for Open Resources. You have to select one book at a time, a collection, or the Entire Library.

Mo's suggested solution was just what I needed. I'll explain my need for this a little further down after I explain how I implimented it.

In the following image, I show how I created a new highlighting pallate called BIBLICAL REFERENCE containing a formatting entry I named All Biblical References (because it will apply to all passages from Genesis through Revelation). The highlighting tab shows my selections for font styling, background, text effects, borders & lines. The visual filter 'Visual Filter highlighting All Biblical References with 'Double Box, Blue Background'' on the upper right shows the <Bible ~ gen-rev> search string suggested by Mo. The lower right pane shows the application of the visual filter in an open user created resource.

To continue, I should tell you that I am not a twenty-something and my visual accruity is not so good. I want the biblical references to be overly easy to find (I.E. jump off the page). My need to find them is because when I highlight the text in an open resource and, in creating a Passage List using the Add passages from: ... selected text., all biblical references except the first are deleted in the process - so you end up with only the first occurance of a citation in the passage list. For some users' needs, this may be what is desired. For me, it is not. So to meet my needs, I need to go into the original text and identify all citations after the first and, editing the Passage List, insert the biblical referances in the appropriate places in the Passage List - ugh! [:'(] Why didn't Logos make it an OPTION to not automatically delete all but first occurances?????

In this one application, I foud 78 biblical references that were automatically deleted from the selected text, all of which I had to manually reinsert in my Passage List. This was not trivial in 80 pages of text so Mo's search suggestion was a huge help. [8-|]

[I] Logos - would you please implement an OPTION to create Passage Lists without deleteing subsequent occurances of Biblical References. The defaul option could be to function as it does now. Please!

For the glory of God alone! If I'm doing a study say for Sunday's teaching in Luke, save that "Layout" (current snapshot), then open a different layout, say for our midweek study in Psalms, all of the bookmarks saved when I was last in Psalms have been replaced with the ones made in Luke. Is there a way to keep bookmarks made in one "Layout" to stay with that layout, and not be replaced by those made in another layout?

I'm reading Beginning Biblical Hebrew by Futato.

I notice that on Biblia.com the hebrew is poorly rendered. The pointing is all of to the left. This is the case in both safari and firefox. Also the spaces between the words are missing. This makes it impossible to read as a learner and hard in any case.

I just went to library.logos.com and found that although the spacing isn't great it is better and the pointing issue is completely fixed. Just wondered if this is a known bug and whether the fix can be made to biblia?

As a powerpc mac user and linux user biblia is the only way I have to access my logos content. I rather buy books than a new computer;) As far as I can tell this issue is not limited to those platforms.

Cheers,
