It appears that the Bible reference font is Source Sans Pro. When I use that for the Notes font, there is no visible change to references. Still needs to be fixed, though, in my view.

This seems to work well. My only feedback is that 3 is too few. A user could use up all three attempts before they even figure out what they're doing. I suggest 10.
