Cheapest Logos 6.0 Pronunciation Guide

Hi
I do not speak or read or study Hebrew or Greek but when I come to a long list of names or when I am come to a word/name/place I need to read aloud in an English translation I would sure like to pronounce them properly?
What is the least expensive Logos resource that will help me do so please? Is there a hidden feature I am overlooking some place within my Silver Baptist 6.0 resources maybe?
Blessings,
Joshua in Rhode Island

This is one that is often mentioned on the forums:
It shows the phonetic pronunciation and includes an audio pronunciation.

That product doesn't include audio pronunciation, to my knowledge. But if you get the ESV Audio Bible (it's free!), you can hear every verse read. The Greek/Hebrew audio pronunciations are useful, but often words are pronounced differently in Greek/Hebrew and in English, so that's not really going to help.
There is an English pronunciation dataset for $9.95. But you should already have that. It adds a pronunciation icon to many (by no means all) names and places in the Factbook.

It does, however, there are some (very few) audio pronunciations missing in the resource.

The little audio icons actually work for you? There must be something wrong with my system, as they don't work for me. I had assumed it was just a Vyrso book and they weren't supposed to work, but I can see by right-clicking that there are actually linked to audio files. I'll create a separate thread to try and fix that on my PC, rather than hijack this one!

They do on my W7 Ultimate 64 8G RAM system with Logos Bible Software 6.1 Beta 3, however, on my WXP Pro 32 2G Ram system (which I rarely use) with Logos Bible Software 4.6c SR-7, it does not.
I'll look for your thread on this.

I restarted Logos, and it now works. It looks as though I'm not the only one who's experienced this.

The audio only works for me one time (i.e. for one word). After that, clicking on an audio icon generates some kind of a message that flashes in the title bar at the top of my layout (too fast to read, but looks like a file name or error code), but there's no more audio. Closing and reopening the resource does not help. Closing and restarting Logos reactivates the audio, but again, it only works one time then it gives me the silent treatment again.
Anyone else see this behavior?

I can't reproduce this problem. Can you post log files for this?

I don't have logs from when it stopped working for me, but I can confirm that:
- No warning or error was shown in the logs.
- Nothing was shown in the UI (the 'play' indicator near the layouts menu didn't appear).
- The .mp3 file was downloaded correctly, and I could play it through Windows media player.

Be glad to post them. Haven't done it before, though--can you point me to a link for the procedure?

As of this evening, I'm seeing a slightly different behavior. Clicking on my first word choice still works fine (as it did before), but now when making additional selections, instead of the message box flashing (appearing and immediately disappearing) at the top of the layout, the message appears and stays there. Still no audio, but because the message window stays there, I can force it to play. I'll explain how in a sec, but first, here's what I see in the message window, starting from the left and working to the right:
- A pause symbol
- The word I had selected for pronunciation (in this case Abel Mizraim)
- A "time played / total play time" indicator (in this case 0:00/0:01)
- A reverse arrow symbol in the shape of a rectangle with rounded corners and the number "30" in the center of the shape (hovering over this rectangle results in a popup message that reads "skip backwards 30 seconds".
- A reading speed value (in this case 1.39999997615814x)
- An "X" to close the window
I can get the audio for the word to play by clicking on the rectangular shaped backward arrow (item #4 above) to skip backwards 30 seconds. It's doing the same thing now for every word selected "after" the first word, which still works as fine as it did earlier today.

Well that was a short lived solution. It seems the behavior is inconsistent. For some words, the message stays up there, for other words, the message flashes as initially noted. Sorry for the confusion. I tried about 20 words this evening and the message remained at the top of the layout for each one, but after posting the info I could see displayed in the message at the top of the layout, I found it was not holding true for all words. Is there a way to adjust the reading speed on the ESV Audio Bible? On my system, the speed is pretty fast--also choppy--not smooth at all. It's understandable but distracting--nothing I'd want to listen to very long.
NOTE: PLEASE DISREGARD MY QUESTION--I see how to adjust the speed for both the ESV Audio Bible and for the "Read Aloud" option from the regular ESV. I don't know why, but the speed initially came up at an accelerated rate. I set the speed back to "1" and the readings sound fine. Sorry to trouble you.

Bradley, do you still want my log files? If so, please provide a link for the process. Also, please note I made a couple of additional posts in this thread regarding the audio's behavior--i.e. it's not totally consistent.

I expect anyone reading this thread is getting pretty sick of looking at my ugly mug post after post. I sure am. [:S] But... for me, the erratic audio behavior continues. This morning, the audio pronunciation has worked fine for at least 30 words in a row. I've scrolled through the resource doing random selections and I've selected words via the search box. It's working fine in this Logos session but I have no clue as to why.

On February 2nd, Bradley from Faithlife asked if I could post logs because he couldn't reproduce the problem. I asked how to do that, but never got a reply. That's the reason Ward posted the link.

Thanks for the link, Ward. As previously noted, the last time I tried using the product, the audio was working, so not sure if the logs would still provide the info Bradley wanted, but I'll make note of the link and post my logs if I have trouble with the audio again.
