I can not get my narrative to work with my bibles only my audio bible esv works
Welcome! [:)]
i am afraid I don't understand your question. Are you asking about some form of "read aloud"? Some bibles have audio book companions (as does the ESV), but most don't. Other translations require a computer generated "read aloud," but some may be ineligible due to publisher restrictions. Can you provide more details? (Translation, OS, app version, etc.) Screen shots might be instructive as well.
I am able to get the Read Aloud function to work with the Bibles I checked, including the NASB95, KJV1900, and the HCSB.
Have you been able to get this to work in the past?
Hi Sharon, the ESV Audio Bible is a different beast from the read aloud feature that is supposed to work on all your bibles (and other books).
In the ESV Audio Bible, each chapter is displayed as an embedded audio player, which you click the triangular play button on to start the reading.
But the read aloud feature in normal bibles (and other books) doesn't work that way. Instead, you press Ctrl+R (Cmd+R on a Mac), or choose "Read Aloud" from the panel menu, and the reading should begin from wherever you are in the book. It is a synthesized voice, so it won't be as nice as the ESV Audio Bible, which has a recording of a live person reading it aloud.
In most books/bibles, your only choice is the synthesized voice (System Narrator):
In the ESV, you have the choice of that human narrator:
For some reason, I can't get Read Aloud to work in any version of the NIV/TNIV, and I'm not sure why, but it's disabled on the menu:
Let us know if Ctrl+R/Cmd+R (Read Aloud) isn't working for you, and what bible(s) you've tried.
Off-topic:
There are some publishers that require Read Aloud or comparable features to be disabled on principle - the reason of course being their general interest of selling audiobooks to people who own the text version ("general" in the sense that they do this even when no audiobooks exist of a resource, and "on principle" might go so far as to even deny blind people the use of reading devices). Faithlife currently works with one such publisher. However, in the case of NIV they should try to verify their contract or renegotiate this, since the Kindle version on Amazon.com has text-to-speech enabled.

Which is indeed the publisher of the NIV, etc. in the States.

Good to know... I <think> however, that Faithlife has a "master switch" turned off for the publisher.
