New Online Manuscript Feature Not Working Correctly

I just upgraded to Logos 6 solely for the online manuscript feature since my work mostly involves textual criticism.

I tested out a random passage (Luke 1:44), but Alexandrinus will not open in the NTVMR even though I am signed in and have scholarly access to images. Additionally, the Sinaiticus image will open, but the transcription link in Logos doesn't match the page.

What is going on here? Would appreciate it if someone else could test this out on their machine and see if it works for them.

This would be one of the best features in Logos if it could work well!

I'll walk through what I see on my end while not being signed in to the NTVMR. I also did this while signed in, and there was no difference (images and transcriptions for both Alexandrinus and Sinaiticus are publicly available; the key difference that scholarly access gives is papyri images one otherwise wouldn't have access to).

When I am not signed in, and run the guide on Lk 1.44, I see:

When I click on the Alexandrinus transcription link, I see:

This is the MS page for Alexandrinus that, according to the NTVMR, includes Luke 1.44. Scrolling down about 2/3 of the page gets me to v. 44. When I click on the page image in Logos, this is what I see:

When you say "will not open in the NTVMR", is this what you mean? I'll file a report to our contacts at the INTF, and ask if there is something strange either on their side, or on the data their web service feeds.

I went to the NTVMR to look up Luke 1.44 in 02 (not signed in), and this is the page I get, which mirrors what I see above. It tells me Logos is pulling the same data that the NTVMR is, and that something may be weird on their side. I'll file a report; if you have NTVMR site credentials feel free to report via their forum as well.

When I click on the Sinaiticus Transcription link, I get a similar looking page, only this time it is Sinaiticus. Scrolling a ways down the page, I see that v. 44 spans cols 3-4. If I click on "01 Sinaiticus", it opens the Logos edition of Sinaiticus straight to Luke 1.44.

So I'm not seeing what you're seeing (though I did scroll a bit down the page to find the correct verse). Can you be more specific as to what you're seeing when you write:

the Sinaiticus image will open, but the transcription link in Logos doesn't match the page

Then I can have some more info to dig over here and work on resolving this issue.

Hi Rick,

Thanks for investigating this issue for me. All the screenshots you've posted are exactly what I see as well, except that I am able to view the Sinaiticus images when I am logged in. The transcription didn't seem to match the image because the beginning of the transcription starts with Col 3 from the previous page. However, I see now that the problem is with the VMR's indexing of that page, which starts at Luke 1:1 instead of 1:18. That is why the transcription wasn't beginning where the text starts on that image.

I did login through the VMR and checked on the Alexandrinus images. It looks like none of the images are working, so it must be an issue with the VMR and not Logos.

So I think all the problems have been resolved for this test case as far as Logos is concerned! Now I have to take up the issue with the VMR folks. Thanks for your help!

Just wanted to follow up that the folks at the INTF are now aware of the issue, and are looking into resolving it. No timeline, but hopefully sooner than later.
