How would you set up a search criteria when you are looking for "all of the male or female names mentioned in an OT or NT Book of the Bible (e.g.. "all males mentioned in the Book of Exodus)?
Thanks to anyone who can assist me in this area.
Hi Tim, Welcome to the forum! I don't know how exactly to do that....other will chime in....but I do know that you can use a Louw-Nida search to pull out all the personal names in a New Testament book. Then you would need to eye-ball the list to delete the masculine names (after exporting to Excel, etc.). Hope this helps until someone else replies.
Thanks, I will see if this helps.

Wow, M.J., I didn't think about combining those two different kind of searches. It worked for me. Any thought on how to approach this in the OT?
It might be possible via
Swanson, James. Dictionary of Biblical Languages with Semantic Domains : Hebrew (Old Testament). Oak Harbor: Logos Research Systems, Inc., 1997. but I don't see an obvious method. Perhaps, Dave Hooton will respond.

I'd use AFAT morph codes on that:
however, keep in mind that every such tagging has limits, some things may be hard to decide and in some cases may have gaps or even errors. Thus, for example, I saw that Canaan in Gen 9:22 is not tagged as a man, but as a place (Vine writes that Canaan is used for a place 80 times, and a person 9 times, maybe 90% precision was all that AFAT could achieve?)

Note that with a search like this, you can then select "Save as Word List" from the upper left drop down menu of the Search Panel to get a list of the names without repeats... and with an English translation!
