I have found this very useful in finding the important variants in a passage. In the below screen shot I have the NA27 and Scrivener 1881 open. I highlight the passage of scripture for my sermon (1 Peter 2:18-25) in the NA27. Everything not highlighted by the sympathetic highlighting in the Scrivener I consider worth taking a look at for the sermon as it could be the reason for a difference between translations those in the congregation are using. In this passage I found 3 variants worth examining in less then 1 minute.

Good catch! I'll have to file this away as an application of sympathetic highlighting. This should work to show deviation from the NA27 in English Bibles as well. You could use the NA27 or NRSV (which sticks to the NA27 faithfully) in one pane and then ESV, NASB, NIV etc. in the other pane.
