Friends, in several of my "Display" mode bibles I see an older Greek version is being used. I would prefer the Nestle-Aland 27th edition. My question: is there a way to change the Greek text used in the ESV Display mode bible?
When you say "Display" mode Bibles, do you mean the panel at the bottom of the Reverse Interlinear tab? If not, what do you mean?
If you do mean that Reverse Interlinear panel, that cannot be changed by the user.
Sorry, I do not really get your question. English bibles each are based upon a certain Greek text. The KJV could only utilize manuscripts available at that time. Some bibles - NKJV or German Schlachter 2000 being an example - intentionally use an older Greek version ("Textus receptus") instead of the NA text. Most "modern" bibles use a variant of NA in the NT (differing from NA 27 only marginally). However, such "underlying" Greek texts are not often printed or even made available. What you see display in the "ribbon" at the bottom of the page, or between the English lines of the ESV if you turn it on, are "reverse interlinears" which try to answer the question "which Greek word was the reason we see a certain English word here?" and to this end chop up the Greek, NA-type text, according to the translators' choice of word order in the sentences. If one were to rearrange those Greek words according to the small numbers giving their position in the original Greek sentence, one would arrive at something near NA 27.
Does this help a bit?
