There are 5 books with 1000 brief sermon or bible study outlines for around $75 (1100 pages), I'm not a big fan of alliteration but I really like John G, Butler's commentaries. These outlines are all based on 1 verse and are around 1 page long each.
This is a great resource and incredible value in my opinion. Here is a sample:
DISCIPLESHIP
Mark 1:18
“Straightway they forsook their nets and followed him” (Mark 1:18).
We hear a lot about discipleship these days. We have conferences on discipleship and sponsor other meetings to emphasize discipleship. This is all fine and good, for we need a great emphasis on discipleship today for there is so little of it around. Our text is a good text on discipleship and what is involved in discipleship. It speaks of the calling of some of the first disciples to the Lord. We note three things they did which you should be doing if you are a disciple of the Lord.
FIRST—THE FERVENCY FOR THE LORD
“Straightway.” This word means to do something immediately, promptly. This tells us two things about true discipleship.
• Passion. “Straightway” is a word of passion. When you do something immediately, you are earnest about it. “Straightway” said the disciples would be fervent in their discipleship of the Lord. A true disciple is not lazy, slack or unenthusiastic about the Lord, but He is very fervent to honor and serve the Lord.
• Priority. “Straightway” says Christ came first in their life. They put Christ ahead of their business concerns. They were fishermen by trade and gave it all up when Christ called. You will never be much of a disciple for Jesus Christ if He does not come first in your life. Matthew 6:33 must be your lifestyle if you would be a good disciple.
SECOND—THE FORSAKING FOR THE LORD
“They forsook their nets.” This is not an act of irresponsibility. It is sacrifice. Discipleship costs plenty. It is not cheap. You will not be a good disciple of the Lord, if you have not learned to sacrifice for Him. Jesus said, “If any man will come after me, let him deny himself” (Luke 9:23). We are not very good in denying ourselves of anything today. But if you would be a disciple of Christ you will have to sacrifice a lot of things in order to follow Him. The men of our text sacrificed their fishing business which was surely more lucrative than following Christ. You may have to forsake a likewise thing of worldly value in order to follow Jesus Christ.
THIRD—THE FOLLOWING OF THE LORD
“Follow him.” This statement tells us two important truths.
• The Person to follow. The disciples follows Jesus. It is not just being a member of a church, or loyal to some denomination or the wearing of some pin or badge. It is following a Person, Jesus Christ.
• The performance in following. Someone has said that there is nothing between “follow” and “him.” That is how we are to follow Christ. We often sing a hymn that says, “Nothing between by soul and the Savior.” That is the way it is to be if you are to be a disciple of Christ. Following Him means to submit to His way and will for your life. He determines where we go and what we do. We may not understand His leading but we must follow His leading. A disciple’s attitude is to be “For me to live is Christ.” (Philippians 1:21).
