Images in Personal Books

Y'all:

I have a journal that I've building a "collected essays" personal book out of. This particular journal has a ton of images, all of which are really necessary to the articles themselves. But -- I can't figure out how to get images to compile into the personal book. I've tried what the wiki suggests, which is to save the image to the hard drive, then embed it into the Word doc, but this just results in blank spaces in the compiled book where the image should be.

The book is compiling with no errors, so I don't think it's a tagging or other issue. The wiki mentions bmp format, so I've saved these images off as bmps. Is there some other way this needs to be done (in the bad old days, Pearson wouldn't let you push an image inline in Word -- you had to insert a marker with the path to the file -- is something like this required for Logos PB's)?

Has anyone made this work, and if so, how?

For clarification: here is what the wiki says:

Pictures and Images

You can paste images from Logos or .bmp (bitmap) format directly into your document. Others must be inserted from the hard drive and with Text Wrapping (on right click menu) set to In Line.
Note: Neither method works with Word 2003, so you have to save to docx from Word 2007 or Skydrive.

What at version of word are you using? Do you have the wrapping set right? How large is your .docx?

Yes, the wrapping is set to "inline" for these graphics. The carriage returns around the graphics show up, but not the graphic itself. One thing I couldn't find is the maximum size for inline graphics -- is there a specific size in K, or dimensions, or ??

Is there a maximum size to the docx file? The file I'm working with is 2.6M right now, but I'd like to keep adding articles to it over time 'til it gets to some upper size limit. I'm just not certain what that size limit is...

.jpg from hard drive works. Can you upload (paper-clip icon) a part of the docx with images.

I don't believe there's a maximum. I've had no trouble with images of 1920x1080 of several MB.

I have a PB made from a single 50Mb Word Document that compiles just fine. You can always split your .docx and add multiple .docxs to a single PB.

Okay -- oddly enough... I saved off a part of the file, and it worked. So I saved the file in a different location, copied it back, and now it's working. I think it did save as a new version of word document -- 2013 instead of 2007. So maybe the change in version fixed it. Don't know, but I can't repeat the problem now.
