Hi Catherine - and welcome to the forums

Hi, I am struggling to find and create a handout on Logos 6, can some please explain how to do this function? It is for an assignment and I am so lost.

Handouts are one of those things that didn't work as hoped and Logos took the decision to stop developing the functionality some time ago. It is still available, in a limited way, on Windows but not at all on Mac.

I would focus on doing what you need to do in some other way, if you can explain what you are trying to achieve we might be able to suggest some options.

I would suggest you do it in a word-processor instead. The Handouts feature in Logos is lame and essentially deprecated; Faithlife would probably have pulled it completely if some users hadn't created Handouts already with it.

Most things in Logos (graphics included) can be exported or copied to the clipboard, so you should be able to do what you need to do, and you'll have much more control over how it looks, using Word or some such. Let us know if you need help doing any of this.

    Hi Catherine,

We had OT intro together last semester, if the assignment you're doing is 6-1 for Intro to Theological Research and Digital Literacy, there should be a note that you can contact the professor as they are aware that the handout function is buggy. Anyhow, I turned in the handout function basically by doing the following:

1.) Fire up the handout tool (Documents > Handouts

2.) Charts at Moody are almost always 1 page so change from "booklet" to "Sheet" and "Single Side"

    3.) Name your handout

4.) Pick a theme like "Minimal" or "Classic"

5.) Click Add Item and enter a passage like 1 Thessalonians 2:9

6.) Click on resources you want to add to the handout

7.) Add blank items between the resources and enter your own notes to try and give the handout some logical flow

8.) Finally click print and select an XPS or PDF printing device

It's a horrid tool for a "chart" but it does manage to give a rough handout... unfortunately you can't drag and drop things like you can to word/openoffice/libreoffice or the bibliography.

I was sad to learn that Faithlife has quit supporting the Handout feature because it really is a helpful tool.  (I can't say it was easy to use . . and it is now very slow and not formatting text correctly since the support ended, but I DO miss it).

Though the feautre may have not been what Logos hoped . . and the existing app may not be worth updating, it seems the need for such a tool remains.  Maybe such a function could be performed by a new utility designed from scratch that would be a part of a future upgrade.  THANKS!

As a suggestion you should post in the Logos 6 forum or add to UserVoice (check if a suggestion exists).
