Problem using Search Feature

Hello. I have been using Logos for several years but for some reason recently when I am using the Search "Bible" I am getting 0 responses for searches that should yield a bunch of responses. e.g., search all Bible Text in Gospels, in NIV84 for Jesus I get 0 results. I have tried several different searches and still yield zero results. Any suggestions?

Windows or Mac? What version of the OS?

5.2b SR9? (There have been 10 releases of 5.2b)

Is there a reason you haven't updated to the free L6 engine?

Everything looks right to me... Sometimes users have difficulties when they check "match case" or "match all word forms" in the search menu (Big Magnifying glass). I don't think that is your problem. Is this a new installation? It looks like perhaps the index didnt finish or has become corrupt.

I guess I assumed I was current.

Logos released L6 late last year. As is their normal policy, the software is always free, but you pay for resources. Since software development is dependent upon sales, at first they make the engine available only to those who make a new purchase. The L6 engine has been available to everyone since the beginning of this month.

Thanks for the info. I downloaded the version 6 with no problems. I tried the search again and it didn't work but it could be that the problem is that I didn't let the indexing finish. Right now it says it could take up to four hours. Anyway, I will let it finish indexing and see if that solves the problem. Thanks for your help.

What's the definition of "Gospels" as a range in your system? I can replicate your results when I set it to an OT book...

What does happen when you read in the NIV and right click on a word such as Jesus, what does it show?

the gospels are set to Matthew-John. Even if I put "all passages" the results are still zero. I have tried using common words like God, faith, and still the same results. When I right click on Jesus I get the normal info on any word.

This normally occurs only when the index is broken.

Can you share the files in your Logos Log Files folder (usually under [my] documents), best if it includes a Logos.log file - which is invoked when you start Logos with Ctrl pressed down

Just looked at the posting times and I'm not convinced. But I'd like you to type or paste reindex new international version 1984 into the command field and execute the command that comes up as tools

that would be rebuild bible index

but maybe your whole indexing has not occured - do you find Jesus in any of your non-bible books in the library? If not: a complete reindex would be the command rebuild index - but prepare that it may run for a couple of hours.
