Suggestion: Date on Logos resources on website for "published on Logos"

It would be useful on all resources to add a "published on Logos" date for all resources that are available to state the date they became available. I'd like to view all "most recent" publications without having to peer at the "most recent" publications to think about which ones I've viewed before. I could simply say, "please show all resources added since X", but before I request that feature, there needs to be a "published on Logos date" added to each publication.

Very good suggestion. I sometimes look at the 'new' resources but not religiously. So I loose track and soon it's hopeless.

George, your suggestion is good, but it relies on us having to have /bought/ the books. I'd like to see what's new on the website and when things were first available for download on logos.com (Unfortunately, I can't afford to buy every resource).

Nope, that's still no good. That date only exists on products that have been purchased. I want to know what is new. For example, using another program that is not entirely reliable, I can see that today Logos added:

I'm not sure why George is trying to solve Rayner's VERY useful suggestion (which could be included in-line in the Logos.com search box, to include a subject/author). But I'll keep reading.

While this is being resolved, for anyone who saw George's Revelations example, I have it on pre-order also and wondered how many of AYB's volumes are now being duplicated. A very convenient list is at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anchor_Bible_Series . I might note (not to get in the 'argument', but the Wiki article includes dates. I'd assume a good Logos.com query might be for example "ICC pub>1970" or similar

It's not yet shipped so I can't use the Shipping date. My only option is "Newest", but I've no way of knowing how "new" newest actually is because there's no "first published on Logos" date.

Actually, technically, I suppose it should be called a "pre-published date" because some of these works aren't yet available, but are still indexed on Logos.

They can't give you that since it may take 1 week or 1 yr to reach a critical stage.

I wish we had every volume available even the ones which were replaced... I bought the AB when it first came out so I do have Matthew... I have heard Logos is not trying to get this volume back since the new Matthew volume will be released soon. I find the 1971 volume on Matthew insightful and most useful and even after I have the new volume I will still refer to the original. Before his death I know Brown was hoping to redo the Gospel of John (actually in the process) if he had I would have no issues only having the latest of Browns editions but while the new volumes may well be superior that is not to say there is not value in the old.

Good idea, and this goes for Vyrso as well.

One thing I get annoyed by on Vyrso is that every once in a while they'll do a big sale on a whole bunch of titles (like they've got on right now with a ton of Zondervan titles for $4.99) and then all those titles get bumped up to the top in the "Newest" listing, so I lose track of where I last left off looking for recently released titles that I might want to buy. "Newest" really seems to be a "Most Recently edited product description page" listing, which is NOT what I want to see when I'm looking at books by "Newest."

Dan ... a bit late replying, only due to running into a discussion in BAR Jan 1984 on the rift between Albright's son and Freedman, after Albright's death. Of course I'm referring to the Matthew commentary. If I remember right, also something happened when the publishers switched.

It's interesting AYB still lists Matthew: http://yalepress.yale.edu/book.asp?isbn=9780300139785 with the interesting note:

This commentary sets the understanding of Matthew in the context of its author's own religious and secular background. Believing that the text should be approached directly, the writers of the commentary make constant use of the recently discovered historical and linguistic evidence now available to elucidate it. This approach results in placing Jesus firmly within the framework of ascertainable Jewish tradition in first-century Palestine.

"The writers hold that the claim of Jesus to fulfill the Law and not to abolish it must be taken seriously. They have therefore taken a fresh look at the legal discussions in Matthew. In the light of their examination, there emerges first a revaluation of the meaning attached to such key words as "parables" and "hypocrite" and then a new and vital significance for such words."

Oddly, I'd also been looking more closely at 'hypocrite' usage by Jesus. I think I might get the Albright volume separately.
