anyone have time to read this yet? I got it. It looks good...would love to know what you thought of it.
Seems like a vital topic.

Missed it [:'(]
missed it as well.
mm.
Sorry, James and Milkman, others - I posted as soon as I saw the free book, but it was already late in the day on Saturday, the only day that it was made available.
I glanced at the post title in Topics too quickly and read "Loving Golf When You Don't Love the Church". Maybe that will be the sequel.
Seriously,I would prefer the title to be "Loving God When You Don't Love Your Local Church", even though that still reflects suspect theology.
We can't love Christ and not love His Bride, if we are Christians. And I'm sure the author gets to that at some point in his text.
It's ok Floyd I'll probably pick this up at the price it's at later on.

I don't think it reflects poor theology to admit the reality that happens for some people when they are wounded by sinners (which we all are) in the body of Christ, and this author is trying to restore such people to a full relationship with the bride of Christ. From the book description: "he hopes to provide healing to wounded and disillusioned believers and restore the wonder of a genuine relationship with Jesus and his bride, the church." He is also confessing his own complicity, as a pastor, in some of the wounding that people experience, and I think hopes to help the church to do a better job of not hurting its members: "Pastor and churchgoer Chris Jackson is honest about his own failings as well as those of the church at large."
I too missed the freebie, but picked it up anyway. Looks like a good read. Thanks, Floyd.
Well said Rosie. Anyone who has been a pastor for very long can relate to the title of this book.

Even those who are not pastors can relate.

I started reading it some last time it went free a couple months ago and it's been pretty good so far!
For those who are disappointed they missed it, I highly recommend watching the tutorial video I put together about how NOT to miss these great deals every day in the future!
