Logos 4 Won't Start-up

Hello All:

I have a laptop running Windows 7 Professional. I have automatic updates turned on and have been using Logos 4 for several months. All updates and indexing has worked smoothly. However, today when start Logos 4 it will not start. The music begins to play then I receive a window stating that Logos 4 has stopped working and that Windows s checking for a solution....

I used Logos 4 last night since I check this wonderful forum several times a day. The only system update I have received in last 48 hours is a Microsoft SilverLight update. It was applied yesterday when I left the office. I used Logos 4 after that update. Previous Microsoft updates were on 1/16/2010.

I have never had a problem with Logos 4 since I upgraded until this morning.

I ma not sure how to get to error log files so I do not have those available until someone illustrates how to do that. There has not been any new software applications installed or changes made to system recently (except normal updates as stated above). Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Hold down ctrl as you start Logos. Keep holding it until the log in screen shows and select "Use Blank Layout" and then log in. This will enable logging and probably bypass whatever was wrong with your layout that keeps Logos from starting.

Hello Mick,

Here is one thing to try:

with L4 closed; hold down CTRL and click the L4 icon to launch it. Choose, "use blank layout" and click work online.

Then, navigate to your Logos 4 log files folder; for Win7 users it would be:

"My Documents\Logos Log Files"

and then WITHOUT RESTARTING L4...zip those files and post them to a new thread explaining what your issue is; and any pertinent data like pc type, os, memory, etc.

If you're really desperate, roll Win 7 back to a day or two ago before the issue happened using system restore. [:D]

Thanks for the quick response Kevin. Holding down hte control wworks as long as I choose the "work offline" option. If I use the sign-in option then the blank screen opens but stops working within 30 seconds. Working offline appears to work but stops working when I open home page. I will follow the instructions and post log files to a new thread soon along with system information.
