A few questions - Syncing, Home screen, books

I finally got version 5 installed. I posted about a month ago, after getting a Windows 7 computer, I needed to move to Logos 5 from Libronix. I've got a few questions for you guys. I'm sure these are common questions, but the search feature doesn't seem to be great - it gave me a ton of hits on the basketball tournament, but nothing vaguely close to the questions I have...

First, is there any way to turn off the "syncing" feature? I know I can turn off the internet access, and will do that once everything settles down updates, etc, but would like to be able to turn off the syncing feature anyway.

Also, is there a way to get rid of the home screen? Again, I know I can have Logos open to a pre-determined format, and am working on setting that up now. However, I'd rather that home screen not load all that junk, even in the background.

As far as my books go, the guy at Logos said he figured I had about 6 gigs of books to download, once it installed. It said it was going to download 800 MB, and even that went so fast it is hard for me to believe it all downloaded. So my question is, aside from looking back and forth at my other computer with Libronix on it, is there a way to tell if it has downloaded and indexed all my books?

Finally, I'm trying to set this up similarly to how I had my Libronix set up. I'd like to be able to double-click a word in, say the NASB, and have it search and then open some specific resources. Then, when I double-click a word in the Nestle-Aland, it will search specific resources I've chosen, and the same with the Hebrew text. When I was here a month ago, some of you said this WAS in fact possible in Logos 5 (I thought it was not). I do know that I can have Logos search across all my resources for any word. However, I'm not interested in weeding through all those resources, for every word I want to look up in a couple of my Language resources.

Well done - but please be aware that Logos 6 is now available and it would be worth upgrading to (at least) the free core engine available at https://www.logos.com/install

The only way to disable sync is to turn off Internet access in the application. Can you expand on why you want to do this? It might help us to advise further

The best way of avoiding the homescreen is by opening to a specific layout, then the home screen isn't loaded.

You set this up from within Program Settings from the Tools menu

Note that in Logos 6 the homepage has been redesigned and loads a lot faster

If you type the command "update resources" in the command bar it will check your downloaded resources against what you are licensed for and download any that are missing

If you double-click a word it will open your most highly prioritised, applicable resource. So, for example, if you double-click a Greek word it will open your highest-prioritised lexicon containing that word. So have a look at prioritization - details at https://wiki.logos.com/Prioritizing

I just don't need it to sync. Right now, Logos is only on my laptop (XP with Libronix) and my desktop. If I decide to use the mobile app, I won't want it opening to where I was on my desktop. There is no need for the program to take up the resources of continually syncing with the cloud. In reality, I'll be turning off the internet on it probably today, so it won't really matter.

Thanks for the info on how to set up a layout. I had intended to do that, but hadn't looked into it yet. Took all of a minute with your input. I assume that the home screen info IS loading in the background. Not a big deal. I'd just rather not have the program do what it doesn't need to do.

I checked my books. I guess they all were brought over. It was surprising how fast that all went.

Man, I hope this isn't the best version 5 can do in this regard. In Libronix, I had keylinked several specific original language tools. It made my work very easy, and I guess I've gotten spoiled, but if I have to live with just one opening automatically, and opening the rest for each and every word I want to look at, it will be a significant step backwards.

I also notice that they did away with the "display information" feature.

This thread is probably not the best for my workflow issues. Why don't I start a new thread about my workflow specifically, that might make it easier to focus on that specifically.

Obviously your call but L6 seems pretty stable and works well (and yes I know there are some reported issues which are being worked on)

Why don't I start a new thread about my workflow specifically, that might make it easier to focus on that specifically.
