I would like to see James Barr's Collected Essays in Logos, please.

I would also like to see this collection of essays honoring James Barr.

I would also like to see this, and this, and this, and this, and this, and this, and this, and this, and this.

I would also like to encourage anyone who hasn't placed an order for these two collections to do so.

Thanks.

I've placed an order for the first collection you suggest, but not the second (due to cost).  However, since I agree with you on the matter of all of the James Barr, I'm now wondering whether I ought to wait for Faithlife to act on your suggestion and then just download the Complete James Barr Collection ;)

In the process of reading this book in my library, I almost immediately encountered a reference to this title by Barr, the fourth link in the OP. Virtually every significant book on Biblical criticism from the last 50 years will quote Barr at the outset because he is one of the more significant contributors in the area. Again, I encourage Logos to get all of these titles ASAP and I also encourage those who haven't already to place a preorder for this Barr Colleciton in PrePub. You will be getting Barr's most influential work, The Semantics of Biblical Language.

Just to demonstrate his influence, this is how many hits I got in my library on "Barr"...

...and having viewed quite a few, I'm pretty sure that better than 95% of these refer to James Barr. Your library is weaker without these resources.

My first reaction was admiration for the size of your library. Then I thought that surely, as common a name as Barr is, there's no way 95% can be his. It turns out, though, that even in my library, there are thousands of references to this towering figure in biblical studies.

I was fortunate enough to have taken Barr in grad school for a semester's seminar on the Septuagint. (I loved the way he said "Hatch and Redpath" in his Scottish way, BTW.) What a mind he had!

But we are all fortunate to have the opportunity to glean from his analytical mind through his scholarship. And though I'll probably never be in a position to drop $600 for this collection of his essays, I'd love to acquire much more of his work.

Thanks for bringing these items to the community's attention.

It is interesting that Logos doesn't offer the Comparative Philology. After all, it is a classic and a must read.
