Problems with search and going to result reference, iOS

I tried to find and answer here on the forum but I can't find anyone who has had the same problem.

Here it is:

When I search for a bible word reference in the iOS app I get results good results, but when I touch the result it takes me to a scripture which has nothing to do with it. For example; when I search for "Justice" in Micah I find Micah 6:8, which is correct, and when I touch the reference it takes me to a place in Jonah. This behavior happens with all the returned results and makes me wonder if the iOS index is messed up somehow.

For the tech people out there this happens with a both a good internet connection and off the air. Additionally I can't find any settings which would effect this behavior.

Basically I find the iOS app quite frustrating because this behavior prevents me from really using it for anything beyond a reader. Also I am not a newby with Logos. I have been using the computer program since the early days of Libronix and now use Version 6. I also use the early iOS app quite extensively when it first came out, but moved away from it as it grew more complex with added features.

Thank you all for any help fixing this issue.

The simplest cause for this would be a downloaded resource which is out of date. Is the resource downloaded? If so, delete it. Try it in the cloud... then try downloading it again and see if it still works.

If that doesn't work, let us know and we can continue to trouble shoot.

Side Note: This is one of the reasons why I suggest being judicious in the amount of downloaded resources.

Yep, removed NASB and after reloading it the the references worked. The problem is, unlike the computer version which automatically loads or asked to load updates ios doesn't. How am I to know which of my large number of books need to be reloaded?

Thank you for that fix. I'm less frustrated now.

It's also important to stay up-to-date with the current version of the apps.  Are you running the latest 4.5.0 version?

Yes. the nice part of ios is it lets one know there is an update available For an app. Now can we get the developera to add that feature for our books like the OS X and Windows version?

    Sorry I'm confused here.

When updates to resources are available on the iOS platform we should get a message advising us of this and asking if we want to download the updates. Do you not get these messages?

    No I do not!

I get updates all the time in Logos for desktop but not my iPad and iPhone apps. As I said Apple does notify, via the App Store, when the app changes and is available for update, but not from Logos when the books are updated.

If there is some sort of notification in the iOS app I have missed it over many years. Could you please inform me where I might see it? It would be a major pain to have to manually remove and update all my books.

    Thank you!

iOS resource updates tend to be less frequent - and only affect books which you have downloaded to your device.

Do you know roughly how many you have downloaded?

Can you give a few examples and the support info (available from tapping the "i" icon which should show when they were last updated?

There isn't any setting. You should just be notified when updates to downloaded resources are available

Best example NASB was updated October 2014 according to i but I never got a notification. I did just update it based on the advice from This thread.

Thanks you for the help. I'm in Germany right now and it's 10 am, isn't it a bit late In the states for you?

Interesting - hopefully someone from Faithlife will be able to comment further

It would be - but I'm based in the UK[:)]

One of the useful things about the forums - and about MVPs - is that people are all over the world which normally means that someone is around to offer advice and ideas.

    1. these notifications happen on the home page.
    2. The app really isn't meant to have very many downloaded resources. How many do you have? You can check by typing local: in the library... (Although that is for English and I don't know about German... Maybe the same?)
    3. the best fix for many problems is a fresh install... Which is another reason to be judicious in the amount of downloaded resources.
