[resolved]Finding similar words in passages

I though there was a way to find similar words in different passages, but I can't figure it out. What I'm trying to do is select multiple psalms, and have Logos tell me what words occur in multiple psalms. Is that possible and how do I do that?

Hi Jeff, I am entirely sure of what you mean by what you wrote you want to do, and so I cannot really answer yet. Can you clarify or perhaps give an example?

Are you looking for all the forms of the same word? Are you looking to search in English or Hebrew? Are you looking for words that have similar meaning?

For the latter, you can use the Bible Sense Lexicon. There are illustrated steps for this here: https://community.logos.com/forums/p/100748/696918.aspx

This has multiple psalms, {nouns. adjectives, verbs, adverbs} in sense - root - lemma sequence .... you can plya with it to get the information you want.

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

Thanks for replies!  MJ, I think you have done what I am trying to do, but for some reason I can't make it happen as you have. I am wanting to analyze a few different psalms to look for different ways that the same root is used, or for frequent uses of the same word. However, I cannot figure out how to sort them the same way you have. I don't appear to have the "sense-root-lemma" beneath 'analysis' as you do. How have you organized this search (I have included my search, I think formatted the same way as yours, for comparison).

Thank you so much for your help,

    Jeff

In order to sort them like MJ did, you have to drag and drop column headers in the space above them (where it says "Option + Clcik a column header and drag here to group by it"). The order in which you place your headers determines how they are sorted.

For instance, if you arrange them as root-reference, they will be sorted by root first. As you look under each root, then they will be sorted by reference. If you want them sorted by reference first, you would do the reverse order. You can choose how many sorting columns you choose and in which order. If you put one header in the wrong place, you can drag it again to where you want it.

Note that the default sorting method is the number of occurrences (so, in the picture below, the roots with most occurrences appear first rather than in alphabetical order). So, you would have all the references in which you have the most occurrences first and then in decreasing order. This default means they are not sorted by canonical order. However, if you click on a header several times, you can toggle between the default view (no arrow shows) and ascending or descending order (a corresponding arrow will show).
