Non-recognizable Bible references in Personal Book Builder

Hi, I'm just starting to work with Personal Book Builder and after watching Morris' video tutorials I was wondering if there was any way to implement non-recognizable Bible references in a way that doesn't visibly mark up the Word document. Ideally, I'd like to have a single Word document that can be printed, converted to PDF, or imported into Logos.

Hi Craig, welcome to the Logos forums!

I have figured out a way to do what you want. I'm not sure if you're on Windows or Mac Logos, but I'm describing it from a Windows version and will try to make the appropriate comments regarding the differences if you're on a Mac. (It always helps to mention what platform you're running on when you post a question, because the answer can differ between the two.)

1. In Word, enter the tagging around the reference as Morris explains in the video.

2. Turn on "Show all formatting marks" in Word so you'll be able to see Hidden Text (I prefer to do it from the keyboard, with Ctrl+Shift+8, which I think would be Cmd+Shift+8 on the Mac; but you can also do it from the Options dialog under the Display tab:

2. Format all the tagging code (both the open double square brackets and the part from the double angle brackets to the closing square brackets, but not the visible text for the hyperlink) as Hidden Text in Word:

Now your document will look something like this when you view it in Word as you're editing:

Notice that all the "Hidden" text displays with a dotted underline when you have "Show all" turned on. If you turn that off, it will disappear (but you need it visible to be able to insert/edit/verify it).

However, when you print or export your document to a PDF, the hidden text will NOT print, as long as you have "Print hidden text" turned off:

The Logos PBB completely ignores Word's hidden text formatting property, so none of this will affect how your book builds and displays in Logos:
