Word Search For Isaiah! HELP TERM PAPER!

I am currently trying to write my final term paper for my class this semester on the nature and identity of the servant passages in Isaiah. I wanted to first know how many times servant was used in Isaiah, no problem that was an easy search. However, my results showed me that Isaiah was called a servant and other superfluous results like that. I want to look up specifically (without having to do it manually) everytime servant refers to Israel only and exclude the servant songs regarding the Messiah. Is there anyway this can be done without having to do it manually?

I can't think of one. The text would have to be tagged in a way to allow you to exclude certain types of references. Even in Logos 5 and 6 which have Clause searching I don't know a way to do this.

The search in the NASB95 comes up with 42 results. Try saving the search results as a passage list (I think you can do that in L4) and then manually sort them.

There can't really be a definitive list of that in Logos because it is an interpretative matter. e.g. Isaiah 53 refers to the Messiah but not if you're a contemporary Jew. Our knowledge about Jesus will shape our view of Isaiah and the identification of certain passages with Jesus rather than Israel should be the conclusion of your paper not the beginning point.

You might want to use several Bibles and you might want to check the Greek and Hebrew words found under 'servant'. [[Yes, Greek - check the LXX as one of the Bibles used]]

Even if there were an automated way to do it in Logos, it would be a worthwhile exercise to go through them all yourself, and that's probably the point of the assignment, for you to spend time thinking about each one and making up your own mind. Logos has so many cool automated features that we risk depriving ourselves of the richness of soaking in the Word.

Our knowledge about Jesus will shape our view of Isaiah and the identification of certain passages with Jesus rather than Israel should be the conclusion of your paper not the beginning point.

I started to look for Servant as a Person in the search box and eventually came up with

for the Isaiah passages. So as a combined search in your bible try

Or he might discover that it's more integrated than that -- a servant with/incorporating/on behalf-of the people, just as Cyrus operates a messianic figure (called YHWH's anointed) for the people who could not restore themselves.
