I'm a master of the unwanted Community Pricing resources

I was inspired to examine the progress of my CP orders. Of the 50+ things I've pre-ordered, the vast majority of them are well under 40% in spite of the fact that they've been in Community Pricing since, well, shortly after they were written (around 400 BC). Smile

(You may rightly infer that I've got a bunch of Loeb collections whose popularity is lower than Joseph McCarthy's at the national convention of the American Communist Party.)

I wonder if I'll ever see these treasured volumes come to life.

Welcome to the world of the patient Logos/Verbum user. Reading the forums, you may get the impression that 3 months is the longest acceptable wait. But there are those of us who prefer works aged on vellum and parchment, who appreciate the careful manuscript dictated to a professional scribe or, at a minimum, handwritten with quill and ink. We revel in the smell and texture of words with the odor unfamiliar letters and archaic words ... especially when unfamiliar or archaic for over a millennium. But fear not. We know how to persevere - our jewels may continue aging but the aren't pulled by the publisher for lack of interest ... they will be released and we will triumph. In 5000 AD our treasures will still be treasures while that ephemeral recent stuff will be relegated to appearing only in footnotes of doctoral theses.

BTW - we will, eventually, have our own series of posters available.

What's also interesting is that when folks try to nudge them along (using examples, humor, or downright threats), the increased interest is minimal. It's as if a resource either has the interest, moving to 70% or so (from thense another purchasing group seems to wake up, yawn, and bid), or it's dead in the water.

The fact that Loeb resources can't move well seems to indicate that FL hasn't reached very deeply into the classics market, despite efforts to push Noet into that sector.

Thanks MJ.! I'll have to bring this to mind every time I go look at the progress of the Select Life and Works of Matthew Henry (5 vols.) (which is about every other day [8-)]). I have an awful feeling it's not going anywhere in a hurry ... sigh.

I've only being pre-ordering and bidding on CPs since Nov 2014 but already my patience meter (never at a healthy level [:(]) is way down. I need encouraging posts like these [:D]

I wonder if there's a time frame before bids on CP items are re-evaluated. Eventually, folks who put in bids will expire (to put it euphemistically) or retire, but their bid may remain. Looking ahead, if you consider a person's active Logos resource buying to be a span of about 50 years in round numbers, 20% of the CP bids are probably no longer realistically viable after 10 years.

The other variable we've yet to 'measure' is the increased Logos dot-zero frequency, which presumably demands an increased appetite for CPs. That is further complicated by selling CPs that haven't been produced. One can invision layers of unshipped volumes by dot-zero dating. Archaeology in the real.

Bottom line, I'd think Logos' need for royalty-free new packaging would enhance the likelihood one would not die prior to a bid being successful.
