New to Logos 6 with questions

Hi! I had Logos 4 about 3 years ago when I first got my mac book pro. I used it till it started quitting unexpectedly and would never load up. Not feeling well at the time I gave up and deleted from my computer and got something else. A week ago I was contacted by a gal in the office who noticed I hadn't used it in a while (a very long time) and now I thankfully have Logos 6. I have a lot to learn. How to find everything and what all the different boxes are than come up when I bring up my bible to read.

One of my questions has to do with shutting down my computer. Every time I do this Logos gets in the way so that when I finally shut it down the page I was on disappears and goes back to the home page. Then I have to find where I was reading again. Is there a way to save what I'm doing so I can bring it up again at the same spot? I'm sure I have TONS more questions but will start with this one. Also, if I wanted to do something else while the program is up I'd love to be able to save the book/bible whatever I'm reading at that spot.

On the top right, click on "Layouts," there you can reboot to where you closed it at a certain time, and even save configurations to use later. You can see more information on the Wiki.

Hello Carol,

I think I can help get you started. First, every time you shut down your computer shut down the bible software first. Then Logos will not get in the way. Second, click the Tools menu and click on Favorites. On the right hand side at the bottom are your bookmarks. Anytime you are done with a book you can book mark it. You can also just close the book and when you open it again it will be where you left off. You can also make a layout with your books and saving the layout will save your place in your books. Your best bet for now is just to use the book marks on the favorites menu. Third, you should plug yourself in to a Logos Bible Software trainer. I highly recommend John Fallahee at http://www.learnlogos.com. John's Logos 6 training will make you an expert at the software and answer most if not all of your questions.

Hi Carol,

Another option is to change the programme settings so that Logos always opens to the same layout in use prior to shutdown.

You can achieve this from Programme Settings where you need to select 'At Startup Open To' 'Most recent layout - any' (as per below),

Now, when you start up L6, it should open to precisely where you left off.

Thanks again. I do like everything on the home page. I did find favorites and book marks and will try them out. I don't shut my computer down all the time just when it's slow or online videos aren't working and I have to reboot which usually helps. That's when it reverts to the home page and I lose everything. I think you've give me enough to play with and help me get started. There is so much to Logos 6 it can be overwhelming to someone with ADD who needs to keep things simple but wants it all. Clicking on layout does nothing. It only allows me to go to the forums and a few other places but doesn't refresh where I was. I remember logos 4 giving the option of keep the page for so many day/hours. I will try the program mentioned below.

Maybe I'll be wrong to ask, but did you actually click on 'Layout' instead of 'Help'. (The latter shows the forum, etc; layout has the automatically saved layouts you're seeking).

HA! Computers. I did and it didn't do anything. I just did it again (I've tried several times) and it came up. Maybe it's just my laptop being slow and I didn't wait long enough. LOL
