What are favorites in Logos 4?

I have to confess that I did not use favorites in Logos 3, because I had no real need to do so. I thought that it was like Favorites/Bookmarks in a web browser.

But now I have just watched a video by Mark Barnes (his videos are fabulous!!!) and he uses favorites to organize his sermon notes. I not exactly sure why he does that, mostly because I don't understand favorites. Why wouldn't you just have one long note file instead of a bunch grouped in a favorite folder?

I'm not looking for justifications for doing it that way, just a better description than the Logos help file (which is pretty pitiful) description of favorites. If I know what they are and how they work, I can incorporate them better.

Because there is no way to organize your user-created files in the file button (no folders). Everything is there together and you have to scroll through a long list (if you have lots of files) or remember the file name to search for it. Creating favorites (links to files) allows you to structure your user-created files in a more systemic and traditional fashion. Since I only treat note-files as "writing in the book's margins" (I use OneNote for heavy duty note-taking) I don't need to organize this way. However, if I was going to us the note files more frequently I would small note files organized via favorites so I could quickly get to specific places in my notes when I wanted to.

Yes the Bookmarks are limited to 10 so Favorites is a way of expanding the number of Bookmarks you can save.

In Libronix 3 and now L4 I also use Favorites to save my Passage Guide searches. I "nest" them by making a "mark" or"John" folder etc and drag the PG's into that named folder. This is one of the few user-organizational tools that we have, so far in L4.

I have the Favorites panel up most of the time on the left side of my scren. I've dropped into it links to the Program Settings and even commands like "Close all"

Something I learned from MP Seminars for Libronex 3 was to create A-Z folders and use them to drop my notes, clippings, etc...in.
This works well in Logos 4 also. Create A-Z folders then open your File drop down menu and drag your files to the folder you want to place them under. You can create sub-folders also. You can also file the same file in more than one folder for ease of finding. Example would be Ascension of Christ under "A" for ascension and "C" subfolder "Christ" for Christ.
