[resolved] Concordance Tool Resources

I just tried the Concordance Tool. I am glad to have a tool like this. It is very helpful when searching for similar phrases in passages containing certain words.
I would like to know if it is possible to create a concordance for a collection of books in my library? For example, all the volumes of a commentary set, or multi-volume books. This would be very helpful to know, or have if it is not available at this time.
The second thing I can see is that I may need to save a Concordance for later use. I know I can re-do a concordance, but it can take several minutes to make a very large concordance. I just tried to make the concordance for the KJV Bible a second time and it finished in just a few seconds. Logos must have temporarily saved the Concordance somewhere in order to have it finish that fast the second time, even though I closed the first one before I rebuilt it.

1. At the moment we can't run a concordance on collections but we do know that there are additional features coming - we can probably influence what those features are (within reason).
2. Recent concordances are cached so they are not recreated as often as you might assume. I'm uncertain as to the precise rules of caching.

This is not currently possible, but it's definitely on our list of potential enhancements for the tool. (For example, we know it could be useful to run a Concordance across all of Luther's Works or Spurgeon's sermons, both of which are split across many volumes.)

The tool currently saves your most recently-generated concordances for quick access. (I think it currently stores the last ten, but this is an implementation detail that may be changed in the future.)
There's currently no way to "pin" a specific resource to always have its concordance data saved or to control the cache in any other way (e.g., just the number or size of cached concordances), but this is a useful suggestion that I can pass along to the team.

This is exactly what I was wishing for! I'm very VERY happy to hear that it's already on the list of "potential" enhancements. My vote would be to move it from the "potential" list to the "imminent" list! [:D]

[Y] My thumbs up appears in the edit window, but not in the post. That being said, it will likely be there when I hit post [8-|].

You will probably get a better response if you start a new thread with some more details.
UPDATE—Take a look at Concordance Crash (6.3.0.0015) This may indicate a fix for your problem.

Thanks Jack,
I'll wait and see if the fix is in the next beta, if not I will start a new thread.

Any possibility of this happening anytime soon?

Concordance is on our list for the web app in the near future. We're currently investigating what it would take to rewrite for the web. We plan to address running concordances on more than a single resource through a web service, where we won't have space limitations and could perhaps pre-generate indexes. We'll explore bringing it back to the desktop, but it would likely be an online-only feature.

Thanks for your response Phil! I would plead for the ability to have offline concordances of at least Series (think comparing Journals and/or Commentaries). Would there be a possibility of perhaps generating multi-resource concordances online, then choosing (with size disclosure) to download any given concordance index to the desktop application? This would of course be saved to the "sticky" or "permanent" section. 😉
