What is a good Critical apparatus that is available in Logos. One that shows what the manuscript is number is and the date of the manuscript. I have the NA28 with the apparatus and none of it gives me the dates of the manuscripts. Thanks!
I absolutely love the Center for New Testament Textual Studies' New Testament Critical Apparatus. It gives dates and it's pretty exhaustive, which means that you don't have to rely on the textual decisions of text critical committees.
Goodness, Lew. I hope the totality of expertise on the committees is bound up in CNTTS. But you're right ... CNTTS is best for estimated dates.
OK, good point, Denise. I was not being clear.
What I mean is this: The committees that put together editions of the Greek New Testament must decide not only on the text of the New Testament, but on which manuscripts to cite in the apparatus. While these folks are often really, really good at what they do, I disagree with some of their decisions. Even Metzger's Textual Commentary on the Greek New Testament only summarizes what went into that committee's decisions at certain points.
But I'll admit, the CNTTS is often overkill for most people, but the ms dates are at least available in it.
