[resolved] Grammatical Construction Inconsistency

Searched ESV (Basic Search) for {Section <GramCon 3C>} which yielded 373 results in 137 articles. Same search with Bible search yields 409 results in 328 verses.

Ran Basic search with NKJV and received 507 results in 213 articles. However, Bible search yields 541 results in 328 verses.

From these results, it would seem that this dataset does not produce reliable results. Unless FL has a reasonable explanation for such variations, it is time to revisit the tagging of these resources.

I think the difference in results is how many words are in the construct. Emphatic negative in English can be one or two words for example. The key is the verses should be the same unless in the case of a text based on the TR, there may be verses not in texts not TR based. I don't know about the basic search results since it is based on chapters I think...

In hindsight, you are most likely correct that the inconsistencies are RI related.

A Bible Search splits its results up by verses.

When you have a construction that spans two verses (e.g., Matt 6:14-15 or Matt 6:22-23), it's reported as two results in Bible Search, increasing the result count.

Thank you for that information.

The inconsistency mentioned in the OP was due to searching RI resources. Have since learned which Greek texts have been tagged. Thus, I will be doing such searches in USB5 in the future.

We're actually working on enabling the feature for other Greek NTs. I'd thought that was further along than it apparently is; I'll dig into the status on Monday and report back here.

I said I'd update, so here it is.

The GBS editions of NA27 and NA28 have been rebuilt, as has UBS5. the Logos editions of NA28, NA27, and NA27INT are in the queue to process, and some others (the Logos editions of Westcott-Hort and Scrivener, as well as AGNT, Swanson's editions of USB4 and Westcott-Hort, and the Clausal Outline resources as well as Lexham Syntactic Greek NT versions and OpenText.org version) will happen, hopefully over the next 4-5 weeks.

We have several resource rebuilds completed internally to resolve this issue. These need some further testing before they're made available, but I'd estimate that'll happen sometime in the next week or so, unless we find something wacky.
