Highlights made on my desktop show up on my iPad but highlights made on my iPad do not show up on my desktop. Any thoughts on why highlights are only flowing one way?

Desktop version: 6.2.0.0027

iPad version: 4.5.12551

Thoughts, comments, and/or snide remarks are appreciated?

    I'll be kind. [:)]

The first thing to check for is to see if you have the note file visual filter turned on in the resource. Click on the three circles icon... make sure that "notes" is checked and each associated note file as well.

If this doesn't fix it, and the issue is determined to be a desktop issue, this thread may be moved to the L6 forum.

  • Thanks.

I only see one category under notes "Solid Colors", though I know there are several documents. How do I add more to that list?

I have changed my highlights on the iPad to be fall under the one document that is listed ("Solid Colors"), but the highlights are not yet showing up on the desktop, though I have checked the box under Visual Filters.

    Any other ideas?

My screen shot actually shows a bug (so I just created a BUG Report). In my screen shot only ONE note document should be showing. Since the resource shown only has highlights stored in one note document, none of the others should be listed. You shouldn't ever need to "add more to the list" because it should show you ALL of the related note documents. In other words, If you create a note document called BLUE and add a highlight in the BLUE note document, it should appear in the list.

I think Faithlife has done us all a disservice by how they originally created the highlighting behavior. The mobile apps especially don't do well with "large" note documents. For this and a number of reasons, I use "resource specific" note documents (i.e. all highlights in the book Blue Like Jazz will go into a note document named... "Blue Like Jazz".)

It <may> be that you have created large note documents and are having problems syncing, but I don't know that from your description so far. Can you provide screen shots? Can you open the note document on mobile and see roughly how many notes you have? How many downloaded resources do you have? How did you organize your notes previously?

EDIT: For clarification: I just noticed that you wrote that you DO see the note document you expect to see listed on the desktop... Have you opened the note document in the desktop to see if the notes are showing there?

On mobile, is the resource in question downloaded? If so, can you delete it and redownload it? Have you tried killing the app and restarting it?
