Noet is here and more than ever the gap between the literary milieu of the Greco-Roman world and the New Testament writings is being bridged by greater investigations of the relationship between the two. So, it is handy in this context, to be able to place a Josephus or 2 Maccabees against a Thucyclides, Xenophon or Cicero, seeing at a glance who came first between Herodotus and Socrates, etc.
