Classics in the Timeline

Noet is here and more than ever the gap between the literary milieu of the Greco-Roman world and the New Testament writings is being bridged by greater investigations of the relationship between the two. So, it is handy in this context, to be able to place a Josephus or 2 Maccabees against a Thucyclides, Xenophon or Cicero, seeing at a glance who came first between Herodotus and Socrates, etc.

Do you mean something like this? (And I chose Cicero because he is there but the other two aren't!)

Do we simply need more events (people) added to the Timeline or are you looking for something different?

No, this would be good, with more authors. I searched for one earlier, can't remember who, but a well-known one and he did not come up, so I assumed they were not featured.

After digging a bit more, I discovered that most are actually already there, but you have to know where to find them. For instance, Socrates shows up in the General Interest subject but not in classical studies. The reverse applies to Cornelius Nepos.

The timeline is too crowded if all subjects are selected. But one can visualise the chronological relationship between specific entities by typing them in the box separated by commas. In the example below, I have Nepos, Socrates, Josephus and Second Maccabees:

Of course, a large enough date span must be indicated and the right subjects selected.

In light of this, I will edit the original post to reflect how to do it rather than ask for a feature that's already here.

Typo in first post: it's Thucydides not Thucyclides.
