Sugg: Streamlining User Experience With Community Notes
I have three recommendations for streamlining the experience of community notes in the Logos Desktop Program and the mobile apps. Currently, all notes appear with a little green quotation icon, a hover over the icon doesn't produce a preview of the note and the icon gives very little information. Even with a quick internet connection, the delay between clicking on a community note and seeing its content is 2-4 seconds and the annoyance of a pane appearing on the right-hand side of the screen on desktop and messing up my layout. I've had it take 5-10 seconds at times to even see the contents of a note. This is cumbersome enough to be frustrating with each use. I think that implementing the following suggestions would greatly improve the user experience with community notes as well as increase its adoption.
1. Allow customizing icon color: I am in many different Faithlife groups. There are a few where I really don't care to see the community notes for that group. There are some (like my smallgroup, my fellow elders, or my group with my wife) where I don't want to miss a community note. Currently I have to click on all community notes in order to see if one is from them. I would like to be able to assign each group a specific color so that with a glance I can see if the note is from a group that I want to read every single note from.
2. Pre-fetch the community notes when a resource is loaded. If I am reading in an area of a resource that has a community note in it, it seems reasonable that Logos would pre-fetch the content of that community note so that when and if I click on it, there is no delay in getting that data. This would be especially helpful with some internet connections where notes take a very long time to load.
3. Preview a community note (and dialog) with hover. When I hover over a community note on desktop, it currently says, "Show Community Note". It would be so much better just show me the content of the community note like you do with all other links.

You can turn those groups off in the visual filter settings on desktop and iOS.

Thanks, Dave. I know I can turn those off. I didn't mean that I don't ever want to see them, but just that they aren't as high of importance. I'm grateful that I can turn groups off an on, but I think my suggestions would benefit the overall usability of community notes. I'd love to make my smallgroup notes red icon so that at a glance I know that somebody there put a note in. Or maybe make the elders blue, so that at a glance I know who posted what and depending on my situation if I want to or don't want to take the time and distraction to open it.
