The
The resource Engelbrecht, Edward A., ed. The Apocrypha: The Lutheran Edition: Text. Saint Louis, MO: Concordia Publishing House, 2012. has a serial relationship with The Holy Bible: English Standard Version. Wheaton: Standard Bible Society, 2001.
The relationship is completely analogous to the relationship between The Apocrypha: King James Version. Bellingham, WA: Logos Research Systems, Inc., 1995. and The Holy Bible: King James Version. Electronic Edition of the 1900 Authorized Version. Bellingham, WA: Logos Research Systems, Inc., 2009.
However, because the former is part of a series and the series metadata has been abused to serve two incompatible purposes, the ESV and its apocrypha cannot work correctly without loosing the fact that the resource has been split into two parts to meet Logos library type requirements.
Three independent pieces of information are needed to correctly handle the Esv apocrypha/Lutheran Apocrypha study notes:
- The test of the apocrypha is the ESV apocrypha and should be treated as such
- The text and the commentary are printed as a single book but divided into two resources in Logos
- the book is generally considered, if not formally called, a supplement or extension to the Lutheran Study Bible and should be treated as such.
I am growing frustrated with the slowness with which Faithlife is changing the library framework to handle the resources Faithlife is producing. Shoehorns are not an effective programming or design tool.
