"Taking its text from the New American Bible, the Lectionary collects the Scripture readings for the Roman Catholic Mass in a three-year cycle of Sundays and feast days, and a two-year of daily Masses"
Question: If we have the NAB and the other Lectionary texts what do we gain by this resource other then having everything in one resource?
[[the NAB will have the Scripture readings and the Lectionary will point us to what Scripture to read]]

This is what Martha wrote in another thread:
MJ. Smith said:To add to the information already provided. The lectionary does not always match the Bible, even as amended in a Catholic version, for any of the following reasons:
- An incipit may be added at the beginning to provide the context. This compensates for cutting off the beginning of a longer passage which would have included the context. Incipits are "At that time", "In those days", "Brothers and Sisters", "Beloved", "Dearly Beloved", "Dearest Brothers and Sisters", "Thus says the Lord" and "Thus says the Lord God".
- There may be deletions or additions required to make the selected passage stand independently. The primary reason they may need this sort of editing is because of the length of the passage. If we read fewer passages they could be longer and would require less editting.
- Modifications are usually to provide the information that is implied by the context - for example, replacing a pronoun by the noun for which it stands.
- Sometimes text is labeled as optional so that the length of the reading can be adjusted for the service and congregation.
In short, Logos does not carry Lectionaries, they carry Lectionary Tables of Readings.
