App crashes when trying to change library sort order

My Ipad app for Logos crashes every time I try to change the “sort by” criterion. It was stuck on “sort by author” and crashing every time I touched the screen to change it. I then made sure that all of my resources were removed from my Ipad Air and did a complete reinstall of the app. That gave me a “sort by recent” screen, but it still crashes every time I try to change it. I’ve tried reinstalling the app a few times, but have come to accept that nothing changes for the better, and it is pointless to try a reinstall right now.

I searched to see whether anyone else reported the problem, but I only found in the release notes for 4.6.0 the entry “Fixed occasional crash when changing the sort order of the Library.” My problem is not occasional, but every time, so I’ve concluded that something is still not right in this area.

Here is what I have:

Logos for Ipad version 4.6.0 (4.6.2579)

Ipad Air 128GB (95.1 available)

Operating system version 7.1.2 (11D257)

3,000+ Logos resources, but now none of them downloaded to the ipad.

Thanks for any help with solving this problem.

Hi Robert - and welcome to the forums

Sorry to hear you are having problems.

I’ve tried reinstalling the app a few times, but have come to accept that nothing changes for the better, and it is pointless to try a reinstall right now.

I understand that but I see that 4.6.1 has just been released to the store - it may be worth trying that and see if it helps

    Operating system version 7.1.2 (11D257)

This is old - released June last year. Any reason you haven't upgraded to 8? (8.3 is available)

I agree with Graham that it would be good to update the app and iOS... outside of that:

3,000+ Logos resources, but now none of them downloaded to the ipad.

    • Did you have a number of resources downloaded previously? How many?
    • Do you have many notes/highlights? If so, have you verified that they have actually finished downloading?
    • Have you ever installed more than one app on this device? Do you have more than one app installed on this device currently?

it still crashes every time I try to change it.

Some thoughts: AFAIK, there isn't a bug in the app... or if there is, it may be one related to iOS 7. I am inclined to think that the issue is an installation issue on your device... or something funky with your account.

Thanks for the information about 4.6.1. I will give a reinstall one more try.

Initially I held back from upgrading because of some early problems that ipad users talked about. Inertia is the only other reason, or maybe the old "if it ain't broke don't fix it" idea --- but now something is broke and I want to fix it. I'll try the operating system update as well.

    Again, thanks!

I will try updating the app and the iOS.

    Further:

I had rather foolishly downloaded just about all my resources (+3,000). I figured why not, I have the room, but then I read on the forum about how this can badly complicate things in the event of some glitch or data corruption. Well, it happened to me and I won't do that again. I'll limit myself to what I'm working on and a reasonable number of standard resources I might need off line.

I have almost no notes or highlighting. I've never made much use of those in my pc version of Logos and certainly none (that I can think of) on the ipad.

I've only had the one Logos app installed on the ipad.

Thanks for the help. I'll do the updates and see whether that fixes things.

    Hello Graham,

4.6.1 seems to have fixed the issue! Thanks for the help.

I suppose I ought to overcome the upgrade inertia regarding the operating system as well.

I don't think that the problems are totally fixed in 4.6.1.  I have the latest version on both my iPad and iPhone (both are latest version of iOS 8), and I have a problem when trying to use my personal notes.  It takes a long time to open a note file, then it will hesitate when trying to scroll through the notes, then crash altogether.  If I try to use the sort feature, that seems to crash it as well.  Is there a problem with using note files on the app?  Thanks for your help.

Please create a new thread and explain your issue clearly. It will be helpful to provide relevant info about the issue. For example: What device? How large are the note files?
