Perseus collection too much

I acquired the free perseus collection in my library, but now I am regretting it as is takes forever to peruse my library. Logos said they could delete it all, but I'm wondering if the hide library would suffice. Does it eliminate it from the searches when hidden?

Also, if I do wish to hide it can elect them all and do it once? It appears I have to select one at a time and drag it to the hidden area which will be very time consuming!

Any advice appreciated!

I think you can "return" it, though I don't recall how, but I guess Logos would take it off for you. That would be easiest, if you truly don't want it.

It's probably easiest to hide them. Who knows. You might want them later. Here's how:

In your library, filter your selection with this:

publisher:"perseus digital library"

Then, select all of the volumes. (In Windows, one way to do this is to right-click one of the titles, then hit CTRL+A on the keyboard.)

Then, CTRL+RIGHT_CLICK on the list of books. There, you'll see an option for hiding the resources.

BTW, you'll have to restart Logos for the Perseus resources to be gone from your library listing.

I too picked up the perseus collection, but likewise did not want it coming up in my searches all the time. Although, I did want it so it could be searchable if I so desired. So i created a new dynamic collection that included everything except what I didn't want to see on a daily basis. To do that, pull down tools and select collections. Create a new collection and call it whatever you like. I called mine "_Phils_Library". (starting it with an underscore will make it show up at the top of lists right under the 'All Resources' selection.) In the "Start with resources matching:" field, I put "type:* ANDNOT publisher:perseus ANDNOT title:Cairo" (without the quotes). Then when I am doing searches and want to search my entire library without perseus or Cairo, I just select my _Phils_Library. If want to include perseus, then I choose the default All Resources.

I am not sure if this is the best way to do this, but it has worked well for me.

You can hide resources or you can call customer service and tell them to revoke your license for those products.

This works if there are none you find useful. For most of us there are enough that are useful to make it worth the effort to hide the majority.

Hi Larry, I didn't see your question answered above (though I might have missed it). Yes, any resources you hide will not turn up in any search results. They are effectively removed from your computer.

Further to Ryan's response: they also no longer take up space on your hard disk. They really are removed from your computer. You still retain your license to them, should you ever decide to "unhide" any of them down the road, which you can do by expanding the Hidden Resources section of Program Settings, right-clicking on a title, and choosing "Unhide" (or instead hover over the title and click the X that shows up on the right side). You can hide multiple books at a time, but unfortunately you can only unhide them one at a time, which is a pain. So choose carefully which ones you're going to hide. I kept all the English translations of ones by Roman and Greek authors I'd heard of. You know, the biggies like Plato and Euripides and such. I've only referred to any of them once or twice, but at least they aren't cluttering my search results.

You can also create a collection that views everything but the perseus collection in your library. That way they are still there (because some of them are useful) but you don't always have to view them.

Slightly off-topic, but does anyone happen to know whether selecting multiple items for unhiding has been submitted as a feature request? It seems like an easy way to eliminate a pain point for lots of folks.

Logos 6 allows Library to show resources in a collection; default is showing all resources. Can filter resources within collection: e.g. youth ministry

Thank you so much for all the great ideas! I think creating a collection without Perseus would be a good solution.

I'll try it! (Hiding them would be the next option since I can see times I might want to search in Perseus)
