John Gill Commentary

It appears John Gill's Commentary is available for those who want to pay full price. (see below) I thought the whole idea of Community Pricing was to get enough money up front to pay for the cost of publication. I am a little shocked at what Logos has done here in light of the users who have been waiting for this. This commentary set did not originally start on the Community Pricing site. It started as a Pre-Pub. I would have gladly paid the PrePub price. Nothing has been said from Logos about the commentary being done. It would be nice if Logos gave those who have been waiting notice it is done and the price. The Community Pricing shows "Gathering Interest" It has been this way probably for three years. What would the pre-pub price have been? My bid is at $105 the highest listed.

All of the volumes of the John Gill Collection can be purchased individually now by calling a rep. It still shows up in Community Pricing as not being developed and I purchased The Cause of God and Truth and his theology because they showed up for a while as being available but couldn't be purchased online. I called a rep and purchased them, then they disappeared from being available. A few days later on a hunch, I called in and purchased his commentaries and sermons and tracts from a rep although they do not show up anywhere online as being available yet... What other books/collections are in limbo like this? And when will they show up on the website? Thanks."

I've directed Faithlife to this post. Obviously, we who are also simply users have no answer.
Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

It is available for those who purchase the Baptist collection at the minimum level that includes Gill. As I have suggested before, I believe this is to drive sales of the Baptist collections until they hit a certain amount and then the materials will probably be generally available. Faithlife has not commented on this, and it is just my own personal speculation.

Can anyone confirm if all the volumes are there yet? In the case of other items that exited CP via introduction to a base package, sometime after the full release the CP have been processed in a few weeks after the release in packages. Encyclopaedia of Religion and Ethics (13 vols.) found it way to package owners and now we who have it in PrePub/CP get it at the end of this months for the CP price.

I checked my community pricing bid back in 2013 and it's there - if we're discussing about " the Works of John Gill"

Dan,
At least in my library, they all seem to be there. This collection downloaded to my library on February 9, 2015. Some of the individual volumes showing on the web page have been grouped as a single resource, as Logos sometimes does. For instance, Gill's six volume Expositions of the OT are grouped into a single resource. The three volumes of his NT Expositions are also joined into a single resource. The two volume Doctrine/Divinity is combined into a single resource. The three volume Sermons and Tracks are each their own resources as is everything else from the web page.

That being the case I would guess it will be similar to the above mentioned case and the CP will be closed and it will be announced it will be shipping a couple weeks later... Although FL may have other plans but they will have to tell us if they do.

I vaguely remember another com pre-pub that came out in two batches. But there was a relatively short interval between who got it first than later. Gill has been near glacial in going to delivery.

We decided to add it to Baptist Platinum and Diamond and Collector's Edition before it was funded and allow the sale of those packages to fund the rest. Not all of the titles had been produced when we shipped Logos 6. The plan was to finish them all and then ship the CP, since it's already effectively been funded. This might have fallen through the cracks. I'll send this to our Baptist product manager and ask him to look into it and ship it, unless there's something I'm not aware of keeping us from doing that.
Sorry for the delay.

I agree, it doesn't matter what tradition you come from, you will be blessed by having Gill in your library.

You can get it for 40 dollars at the moment! It would be nice at 35, If logos really wanted to give us the best price they would make the divisions at one dollar, but not going to hold my breath. Get it now and be glad if it goes for something less!

Thank You!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Finally...I'm delighted. I heard about Gill ages ago and have been depending on another program to access it. This will be so much better.

At the risk of seeming utterly greedy [:$], what about the Princeton Theological Review, which I believe is in a similar situation?

Princeton is in the new journal Bundles. No timeline on when they will be available, but it was one of the major reasons I purchased the Master Bundle. Added to Themlios at $100 and a few others, it made sense to get them at $500

Ditto, get the journal bundle as that is the only way that they were going to go into production.
