I am looking for some good fictional Christian books for my son to read over the summer. He is 8 1/2 and a good reader.
Any suggestions?
Thank you.
Joel Rosenberg Twelfth Imam Series, Oliver North Mission Compromised Series.

Would that mean that he's completed grade four?
For an 8.5 year old reader?
The Narnia Series by C.S. Lewis would be perfect. Unfortunately Logos doesn't carry it (yet). By I'm still hoping.

But when he gets older you should DEFINITELY keep those in mind! [Y]
Probably not. More likely third grade.

Bernstain Bears at Vyrso. There is something like 45 titles. In addition, you will find other children resources there.

"Left Behind" The Kids series. Excellent read for youngsters of his age.

I suggest that you consider the books on "A Christian Classical School Reading List: 3rd grade" list at http://www.goodreads.com/list/show/20905.A_Christian_Classical_School _Reading_List_3rd_grade
or consider some of the reading lists from Christian schools such as :
http://www.stillwaterchristianschool.org/cms/lib2/MT02001626/Centricity/Domain/82/Third%20Grade%20Summer%20Reading.pdf
http://www.ccssmyrna.org/editoruploads/files/3rd%20Summer%20Reading%2015-16.pdf
etc.
Good suggestions MJ. [Y]
I agree, thank you MJ, what a nice resource to know about. [:)]
Lew Wallace, Ben Hur - A Tale of the Christ
for an eight year old?
George Macdonald's The Princess and the Goblin, and The Princess and Curdie would be great! Lewis and Tolkien both pulled a lot of their ideas from his books!
Lew Wallace, Ben Hur - A Tale of the Christ for an eight year old?
I assume Jan means adapted as a children's book. I'm not sure if my memory is correct, but I believe I first read Ben Hur as a comic book.
When I was small I also read Bunyan's Pilgrim's Progress adapted as a children's book.
Edit: I see that Vyrso offers an adaptation of the Pilgrim's Progress by Helen L. Taylor.

Sounds like a perfect volume... the edition with fresh illustrations is more money but well might be worth it.

Ah, eight years old, not in year eight. My mistake...
I like the idea of looking for an adapted version though.
