Hebrew Morphology

Cross post from a different forum (Hebrew morphology searches).
I believe the following Morph search will get all the nouns translated without the definite article, without false positives:
What I would like is to be able to exclude certain things from the search, for VF purposes. For instance:
I'm only interested in the nouns that come up with the qualifier, but the articles come up as well. I don't imagine Logos has this capability yet - searching for only one term using other terms as qualifiers; it seems too coarse for that kind of accuracy, and I'm not sure if the search function will ever be that refined (unless they move back to AF Morph tagging, or refine the Logos Hebrew morphology). Does anyone have some search wizardry to turn up what I'm looking for?

Eric,
Are you looking for all common nouns that are definite but do not have the ה at the beginning? Or are you looking for all of the indefinite nouns? If the former, you can find these in the LHB. If the latter, I am not sure of how to do that unless using AFAT.

I'm actually looking for results in an English translation - trying to replicate what we had in L4 before the reverse interlinear switched over to Logos' morphology

Is this what you were trying to accomplish? The nouns are marked without the articles. Or are you trying to mark definite nouns without having the article also be highlighted?

Right, I'm trying to have only the definite nouns highlighted without the articles also being highlighted. So, for example, I'd like to be able to search for @NC with the condition that it comes immediately after @A, but I don't also want to see the @A that it comes after - I only want the @NC highlighted.
It'd be nice to have complex searches with only certain elements of that search actually highlighted

I also haven't been able to come up with a reliable way of finding only the articles that weren't translated; I can get a few of them, but I get a lot of false positives and miss a lot of other articles (not to mention also highlighting other search terms)

I agree that the the Logos Hebrew morphology should be more extensive/flexible in certain areas. I did, however, manage to find a workaround for what you wish to accomplish. Assuming your default text is black throughout the OT, create a highlight that only "changes" the font from default to black. Now as long as your other highlighting is only on the foreground text, you're all set. If, however, you wish to use a highlight that affects the background, you'll need to create your "canceling" highlight to also make the background match your Bible background (e.g. white, light gray, etc). From what I can tell, VFs execute the fields from first to last, so you can effectively "cancel" a previous highlight (or just change it to something else).

Nice hack Reuben, I'll toy around with it. Some issues arise if you try to insert text or use something other than foreground highlighting, of course. At least this is something though!

Agreed! That is a very clever work around.
