How do I configure Logos Android to skip the Home page, and open directly with preferred Bible?
I looked over the Tutorial page, and I see how to choose my preferred Bible (done), and how to configure the Home Page. I did the latter, unchecking everything. Unfortunately, it doesn't take the hint, and still insists on showing me the Home page, with "News" items. (There's no way to uncheck that.)
All I want is to be able to do the same as is possible in Logos Windows: start the program and read the Bible. But how?
P.S. I don't recall it being like this in the past. Did something change in a recent update?

This is not (and has never been) supported after starting the app fresh.
However, if you have the app in read mode (or a different view) and tap the Home button, when the app is started again it will open where you left it. Please see http://screencast.com/t/Mw5mgYPZNWHW

I can confirm that this is so.
But it would be *really* nice if it could be configured to go straight to the book I was reading last!
When I show the app to others, it's kind of embarrassing for me and less convincing for them when I have to fiddle through all the ads (what you call the homepage) before they see it. Sure it's only seconds, but it's frustrating seconds that I have to repeat multiple times a week, often when I don't have seconds to spare, e.g. while setting up for a lecture/Bible study.
Is there a business case for change here? At least letting us choose how to start up if you don't want to set it that way by default?

The video shows a way to do this. It doesn't remember, though, if the app is killed, or if the Android is rebooted. It works only if the Logos app remains in the background. For the most part, this is good enough.
When you write "is not (and has never been) supported" it sounds like there was a conscious decision made by the programmers to not include that function. I can only wonder why. Like I said, the option to skip the Home Page and go directly to the Bible is present in Logos Windows. Why not Android?

The reason I stated this is you previously said "I don't recall it being like this in the past. Did something change in a recent update?" Nothing has changed... there are dozens of features available in Logos Desktop that are not available in the mobile apps and this is one of them.

I don't think this answer is strictly accurate. The very old android app, before the advert page was introduced, allowed us to go straight to the book we were reading without the intrusive ads. Perhaps this is what the O.P. remembered? I miss that feature too and deeply resent being forced to endure ads in a product I paid a lot of money for.

Hi BriM,
All of Faithlife's Android apps are free. If using any of our free Faithlife mobile apps might cause you deep resentment in any way, it might be best that you delete them from your mobile devices - or, you could simply follow the instructions previously mentioned in this thread.

I apologize for being a jerk in my earlier response. I also broke my top three rules of forum interaction: 1) Does it help improve quality? 2) No arguing. 3) No interaction after 8pm. Failure on my part.
The News items are there on both iOS and Android and cannot be turned off. There are many customers that only use the free mobile apps and have never purchased any resources, but we want them to. The News section is our way of keeping them up to date on product offerings.
As a workaround, the best solution might be for you to put the app in the background when you are done using it, and when you open it again it will be right where you left it. Personally I rarely see the News items because I have Reading Plans, Verse of the Day and Faithlife Today enabled and I have to purposely scroll down to see them.I realize this has been discussed by you before here and here and understand it to be irritating to some customers, but I'm not sure there is anything else I can do to help.

Thanks for your gracious reply Kevin. I understand that you have many customers who never pay and I agree that it is reasonable for you to advertise to them. But for those of us who have paid for a package, why do we still have to put up with adverts? I've asked the question before but never got an answer: why can't you do the model that other apps use - free and you get ads, pay something and the ads are removed?

As I mentioned, I'm not sure there is anything else I can do to help. I can't give you the answer you wish to your question except to say that Faithlife has decided at this time not to use that model. There is an option to Hide or delete the individual news items on both iOS and Android.
