Mobile Ed Subscription Plan

One thing that would be interesting to see is a "Mobile Ed Subscription Plan" that gives one access to all the current and future Mobile Ed courses for a flat, affordable monthly fee. This would make it easier for many of us to embark in trying out Mobile Ed courses without a steep up front cost, and the fact that we could cancel anytime in the event we've taken only the courses that have interested us would be nice. I would be interested in such a service.

1. I can't image it would be cheap

2. We would lose access to our "textbooks" if our subscription ended.

RE 1: Faithlife/Logos would need to come up with a price that we would be comfortable with. I guess they could do tiers, but that would be horribly confusing. I'd rather see a flat "all access" fee so I could take all the courses I want/need without having to deal with tiers.

RE 2: They could separate the textbook portions of the curriculum as a direct purchase model (or offer them included with the subscription as well as a direct purchase model). You would lose all the videos if your subscription ended (unless you went back and directly purchased the ones you wanted), but you could still directly purchase your textbooks, professor's notes, etc., and ensure you owned them even if your subscription ended. They could still include them in the subscription for those that have plans to subscribe for any lengthy period of time, but offer direct purchase routes separating out the video content from the textbook content so users could own their textbooks at a lower rate. It's similar to how college works for me now. I don't "own" any of my professor's lectures. They're streamed from our college's website, with no option to download and archive them. Once my course term is completed, the lectures go away. However, I am allowed to download and archive professor's notes, as well as I directly purchase any textbooks I use. Therefore my professor's notes and textbooks go with me when the course is completed. Following that format for Mobile Ed would work.

I take four courses per term and pay close to $4,000/semester (right under the $4,000 mark. Count in textbooks and it would be). If Faithlife/Logos could offer something for a little less (due to the non-credit nature of the courses), it'd be nice.

You can own the courses for less than a quarter of that price. I own 24 courses and have not reached $3000 yet. I plan on getting a lot more. I like the idea of watching them again.

True, and "if" Faithlife/Logos could pull off an all access subscription rate that long term would be even more economical, that would be great. Currently, I feel that Mobile Ed's ownership prices are very decent for what you get. The reason I'm pitching the idea for a subscription is it would give one access to the entire catalog as well as any new Mobile Ed courses that come down the pipeline, so one would always have access to all the fresh content if they subscribed. It would also allow users interested in one or two Mobile Ed courses but not sure if they want to pay outright for one a chance to sample the courses for a month subscription and see if they want to purchase any or not without the large up front cost.

And true, my college education is pricey, and that's at one of the "less expensive" colleges. My cousin who's going into being a dentist, let's just say, I wouldn't want his tuition bill.

Faithlife has already established the pricing for owning the courses, and I'm thinking that it would be quite expensive (for us) if they would put them in a subscription package. Think of what occurred with the ECC. Some pre-paid full price, then FL decided to just about give away 2 volumes. What an uproar that caused (and to be fair and honest, the uproar was understandable). On another note, let's say FL offered all courses (now and future) for an affordable $20 per month, let's raise it to $50 per month. That's $600 per year for all courses. Some of the individual courses cost more than that. The statement might arise "But you won't own them". For some, 3 or 4 years ($1800 - $2400) may be just a good as owning them. Some may have paid more than that already for just a few courses. As the cost for subscription (for all courses) escalate, taking into consideration those who have already purchased the same courses, it soon becomes unaffordable and probably uneconomical for anyone to subscribe.
