Resources updated can be misleading
Here is a scenario that shows how the resources updated tag on the top right of the Home Page can be misleading:
I have Verbum open - an update comes down. Say it now says "6 resources updated x". Great. I check them out, maybe tag them, do what I like to do to review new resources, and then I go to the Home Page and click the x to remove that notification.
Later in the day, I receive an email that a prepub of 10 resources is now available. Without closing Verbum, I do "Update resources", and go back to work. Later I check, and it now says "16 resources updated x". Whoa! Must have gotten something else! But when I check for new downloads, it is only the 10 - it is re-reporting the original 6 that came down, and that I acknowledged/closed-cleared the notice.
I think once you acknowledge the notice of a particular number of resources being downloaded, it should not report on them any more.

Whereas I like the effect of the whole day collected together - I don't like the message clearing between download on the same day as it often results in a series of partial downloads and I never see the entire bundle.

Not sure what you mean, it doesn't clear automatically, it adds the total resources together, if you don't explicitly clear it (not sure what happens if you restart during the day). Can't we both have what we want, you don't clear the notice and see them aggregate, I clear the notice to see what is new?
