Tim, I won't clog your blog with a reply, but if I were, it would look something like this-

"Do your homework before signing up. Ask users how much they really spend on the software. Find out how well it actually works and how easy (or hard) it is to get documentation and training. Before signing up for that academic discount, read the fine print about resale.

Go on the Logos forums and read the threads for half a day.

Caveat emptor."

I have recommended this for a while.... but in someways it is a big advertisement for FL, since the Faithlife Study Bible in particular points to many resources to purchase. But all in all FL Study Bible resources are a generous gift for FL to make available. And those who end up not buying the extra recommended resources are going to get a great study bible that in actuality is probably more like a one volume Bible commentary on steroids.

I think if your theology is decently modern, FL dictionary/study-Bible is good.

I'd never trot them out at our church, and ours is the 'liberal' evangelical church here. That's not meant to criticize FL; just to say what's in the books you buy/read matter. A fancy looker-upper is secondary.
