BUG: Certain sections of ESV text won't allow selection for copy or highlight

In the screenshot below, I found (Sunday, in church) a section of the ESV text that simply would not allow itself to be selected (iPad Air). I tried starting the selection inside the block and literally nothing would happen. When I started outside the block, I could select normally, but when I tried to pull the selection area over this block, it refused to go. It is like this section is a picture imbedded in the other text or something.

In the screenshot, I have selected the text as high as it would go...9:1-3a is the offending area.

I don't have anything to add or contribute other than to say I think I read a similar issue in the L6 forum... I don't remember if it was the ESV or not... It may be a resource issue. [:s]

I'm unable to reproduce this.  If you are able to is the resource downloaded or not, what is the resource version, is this online or offline, etc.?

ESV Bible, and yes, it is downloaded.

I spent about 15 minutes reproducing it in church Sunday. I can't reproduce it now. I still get some funny behaviors (the selection handles, when being pulled over text, sometimes suddenly disappear and selection is converted to a highlight, which has to be deleted, for example). On occasion, I can't get a selection handle to appear, but only a magnifying glass (this one is very hard to reproduce...it just occasionally happens without warning). This is the same magnifying glass I see just before the selection handles appear, but they never appear. That was the problem Sunday, though the added strangeness of being unable to drag active selection handles over the indicated text complicated things.

I'll try again Sunday when I'm back on the server at church and see what happens.

If you press on a word and the selection handles appear, you have to first take your finger off the screen and then touch one of the handles and drag it.  If you leave your finger on the screen and drag, you will create a highlight if the Swipe to Highlight setting is on - this is by design.  Swipe to Highlight can be turned off in View Settings.

On occasion, I can't get a selection handle to appear, but only a magnifying glass (this one is very hard to reproduce...it just occasionally happens without warning). This is the same magnifying glass I see just before the selection handles appear, but they never appear.

If you touch-drag on the screen without first waiting long enough for the blue selection handles to appear, you'll see the magnifying glass and are in the process of creating a highlight - this again is Swipe to Highlight working as designed if it's turned on.

That was the problem Sunday, though the added strangeness of being unable to drag active selection handles over the indicated text complicated things.

This is the bug I'm interested in - once selection handles are on the screen they should be able to move (assuming they are properly selected).

I have a similar problem (Win 8.1;L6).  I cannot just copy 2 verses in most areas of the ESV. E.g., I want to copy Matt 27:50-51.  I can copy and paste these verses singly, but when I click and drag or shift and click to try to highlight 51 & 52, the highlighting jumps to vs 45-54 rather than just 51 and 52.

Is there any way to make this stop so I can click and drag just the portion I want to use?

Hi Jeff - and welcome to the forums

I appreciate how it seems similar but it is actually a very different issue.[:)]

You are seeing this because you have "Smart Selection" enabled - you can disable this in Tools-> Program Settings and you will get the behaviour you are looking for.

For future reference it is good to post issues in the relevant forum - so https://community.logos.com/forums/124.aspx for Logos 6 issues.

Thank you, Graham, for sharing your L6 expertise as well as your forum expertise.  I will try to keep both in view.  Jeff
