Logos "Preparing Your Library" indefinitely

When I launch Logos (still using Logos 4), it asks me to sign in and then says "Preparing Your Library" and then does indefinitely. It doesn't matter if I leave it for hours and hours, it seems stuck on Preparing Library (Stage 2 of 3). Restarting the computer or the program doesn't help. Nor does Pausing Indexing.

Any suggestions?

Hi Joshua - and welcome to the forums

Sorry to hear you are having issues - to help understand what is happening we would need to see some logs.

Please enable diagnostic logging - as per https://wiki.logos.com/Diagnostic_Logging - before starting Logos, let it run for some time, stop Logos and then post logs using the paperclip icon.

However, this issue may have already been fixed in Logos 5 or 6. Any reasons you haven't upgraded to the free core engine of either of those?

Laziness is my own reason for not upgrading for free to Logos 5 or 6. Perhaps I should try this first?

I would certainly recommend it.

Hmmm... The plot thickens. I downloaded the Logos 6 Core Engine. When I launched it the initial time, I had to accept the User Agreement, and then it asks me to sign in. After I sign in I briefly get the screen "Signing In" and then it goes away without launching Logos 6, and the Logo Icon disappears from the bottom bar. (I should mention I am using Logos on Mac)

This is bizarre. Any thoughts?

What you describe might hint at a local antivirus/anti-malware/personal firewall software that doesn't let Logos communicate with the login-server on the internet.

Logos.log has:

"6/29/2015 13:41:30 | WARN | 1 | AsyncWorkItem | Async work threw exception: System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path "/Users/joshuareitano/Library/Application Support/Logos4/Data/02mmt453.fnq/ResourceManager/People/Discovered.db" is denied."

So there is a folder / file level access issue which with Logos not being able to get access to a database.

Are you able to check permissions and see if you can spot a problem?

I'm not a Mac user but there are plenty on the forums who should be able to advise more fully about this.
