Logos will not "update now"

I see here in the forum that update to Logos 6.4 is available. Last night and again this morning typing the command "update now" doesn't find anything or the software seems to be stuck in a 'loop' displaying "Checking for updates" beside the synchronizing indicator. Program settings are set for automatic downloading. Closing / restarting Logos and even rebooting the computer was to no avail.

Any suggestions? I would appreciate any helps.

Currently I have Logos Bible Software 6.3 SR-2 (6.3.0.0074) on my Windows 8.1 machine

Can you post logs?

You can enable logging by holding the control key down while double clicking the L6 icon. I usually hold it down until the splash screen appears. Once started, run the update now command. Once that has completed upload the logos log.

One possible workaround may be to use the command set update channel to beta which might install 6.4 RC2 which is the same build as the stable version (and if this doesn't help, installing from the Beta Installer linked from the topmost post in the beta forum) - alternatively, it may be that the installer linked from the free L6 Engine page works just the same.

A manual install of a new version will download a mini program which invokes the download of the ~100MB program version just as the regular update would, so it's not a reinstall of several GB size and full indexing.

It may not be your problem - however!

I have found - at least twice now that I need to issue the "update now" imperative - leave it a while to "cook" - then exit the application, let it sync - then start the program afresh and - viola!

The new version is now running. Lovely Logos 6.4!
