Resource-specific notes/highlighting
I'm excited to have a default setting in iOS for resource-specific highlighting. I see that the feature is also available for the Mac 6.4 version. I don't see a default setting as in iOS. Do I need to create a resource-specific notes document for each book I want to mark up and annotate, or is there a way that can be done by default?

There is a not a default program setting. You can set any of your existing highlighting palettes to this setting. Logos will automatically create a new note file for each resource you highlight if the palette you used is set for that.

For clarification: The behavior is controlled by different methods on desktop vs. mobile. On mobile, there is a master switch. On the desktop, it is controlled at the pallet level (I think this is stupid, but that is how it is).

As Fred noted, this is done automatically already. NOTE: If you have already created a resource specific note document, you will need to rename it to match what FL uses if you want to use the same note document.

In case this is not clear, I may have created a resource specific note manually titled NASB, Logos will be looking for "New American Standard Bible:1995 Update".

Perfect, gents. Works as advertised. I would not have expected to find that setting in the palette, but in a way it makes sense. Not in every way, but in a way.

Why? I use Resource-Specific note files on several of my palettes, but I still have a few specialized palettes that go to a specific note file that isn't resource specific. I would not want a master switch for this on the desktop.

I agree that having the ability to assign resource specific to one or more palettes, while assigning something else (e.g. most recent notefile) is nice to have

As an option, fine, but as a default behavior it is ludicrous. MANY users will end up finding they have large, unorganized note files, with no good way to dig themselves out of the hole other than to delete and start again... and FL has shown no desire to assist (i.e. to provide easier means to move and organize notes). FWIW - when i have argued for a change, i have also lobbied for the current behavior to remain as an option.

Help me understand how this works. I want to start reading a J I Packer book. In Window PC, what steps do I take to get my notes to go to a note file I create titled J I Packer?
Next question. I have been reading Packer. I go to bed wake up in the morning and start my devotional and what to highlight my Bible or Devotional Book. Do I have to go somewhere and change something to prevent the highlights going into the J I Packer note file?

Second question about this: If I set a palette to Resource-specific note file, and make a note in the resource, I see the note file is automatically created using the book title as the note file title.
So, if, having auto-created a RS note file, I change the name to something that makes more sense, will the RS tool continue to send notes to the name-changed note file, or will it auto-create a new file with the book name?

This. The setting is tied to the resource title, so changing the note name afterward will cause it to create a new note file. Also, if you edit the title of the resource in Resource Information, it will use that name (which will not automatically change the name of an existing note file).

Unfortunately, from my test, it auto-creates a new file with the full (Logos branded) book name. [:(] Even so, I'm very happy to see the Resource Specific option available. [:D]
PS: Didn't see Dylan's post until after making mine. I'm not crazy about the idea of changing resource titles in order to prevent Logos from creating a new Resource Specific file, but it's nice to know it's an option.

I'd like to have the files start with author names, but I'm not going to complain because I've wanted this feature for about six years.

Your reading and want to use you highlighter pens palette to mark it up. Simply make sure that palette is set to Resource Specific note file and Logos will create a note file with the name of the resource.

If you are using the same highlight palette you used for your Packer book on something else, it will create a note file using the name of the bible or devotion. It does not affect anything in the Packer book or corresponding note file

Joe, sounds to me like you will now want to create a separate highlighting palette to be used only for generic book highlighting; one in which you want the created notes to all be filed in a separate note file under the title of the resource.
You'll want a separate palette (probably multiple ones) for bible highlighting, depending on your overall HL scheme.
